DICK’S Sporting Goods Overview
DICK’S Sporting Goods sells sports equipment, athletic footwear, apparel and outdoor gear in stores and online. DICK’S also operates House of Sport and owns related banners including Golf Galaxy, Public Lands, Going, Going, Gone! and Foot Locker. These banners may have different purchase records and return terms; identify the store or website you used when reviewing an experience. DICK’S completed its acquisition of Foot Locker in September 2025, but Foot Locker remains a separate retail banner.

What to Include in Your Review
- The store location or website, the item and the purchase or shipment date.
- Whether the issue concerned inventory, sizing, shipping, pickup, a promotion, a return or product service.
- Your receipt or order confirmation status and the return terms shown for that product.
- When you contacted customer service, what you requested and how the case ended.
Online Orders, Cancellation and Delivery
Delivery options, charges and estimated arrival dates depend on the item, destination and shipping method selected at checkout. Track the order through DICK’S official account or order-tracking tools and save shipping emails. Report a missing or damaged package to customer service with the order number, carrier tracking and photographs where useful. For large equipment, request handling instructions before sending anything back.
DICK’S says processing starts immediately and cancellation is usually unavailable after an order is placed. Its cancellation policy describes a window of up to 30 minutes to request cancellation through customer service. A cancellation is not guaranteed; otherwise follow the applicable return process when the order arrives.
Store Pickup and Curbside Pickup
Eligible orders can be collected in store or curbside after a ready-for-pickup notice. DICK’S advertises one-hour pickup for qualifying merchandise, subject to store stock and preparation. Its pickup guidance says the usual collection window is four days from order placement, with an option to extend another four days once through the text or email notification. An uncollected order is canceled after its applicable window; a payment authorization hold may take longer to disappear under your bank’s rules. Check the confirmation for the specific store and pickup instructions.
Returns, Exchanges and Product Exceptions
For most qualifying purchases at DICK’S Sporting Goods, the return policy gives 90 days from the purchase date for in-store sales or from the original shipment date for online orders. DICK’S Sporting Goods Warehouse and Going, Going, Gone! generally have a shorter 30-day window. A return should be clean and resalable, and the item must be received within the applicable period. Standard online purchases can be returned to a DICK’S store or handled through the online return route when eligible. Items bought in a store cannot currently be mailed back under DICK’S stated policy.
Bring a valid proof of purchase, such as a receipt, order confirmation, packing slip, order number or return barcode, plus the original payment card when applicable. DICK’S says both online and store purchases can be taken to a store for exchange, but online-only items are not eligible for in-store exchange. Product restrictions can be much shorter or prohibit returns: trading cards, custom products, gift cards and used bats are among its listed exclusions; bikes have specific conditions, and some opened electronics or protective gear cannot be returned. Check the item-specific rule before purchase, especially for fitness equipment. Manufacturer warranty service and a retailer return are separate processes.
No-Receipt Returns and Refund Method
If you lost an in-store receipt, DICK’S advises contacting customer service to see whether it can retrieve a copy. Without valid proof of purchase, an accepted return receives store credit at the lowest selling price, and a valid ID is required; this is not an original-payment refund. DICK’S may limit or reject returns under its fraud and policy rules. With valid proof, most eligible purchases are refunded to the original payment method, but this has important exceptions.
Purchases through some third-party marketplaces, such as Instacart, may be refunded as store credit. Orders paid with PayPal, Affirm, Afterpay, Klarna, a non-DICK’S gift card or multiple forms of payment may instead result in a DICK’S gift card under the published policy. Gift-receipt returns generally receive a gift card or an even exchange. Promotional coupons or ScoreCard rewards can reduce the refund. Original online shipping charges generally are not refundable. Check DICK’S current return and refund details before selecting a return route.
Refund Timing and Damaged Items
DICK’S says an in-store return to the original payment method may take up to 14 business days to appear. A mailed online return usually takes 2–3 weeks from receipt by DICK’S for a credit to be issued. Keep a return receipt and tracking number, and check with your payment provider if a processed credit has not appeared. DICK’S says damaged items can generally be returned within the applicable 90-day policy, subject to product-specific rules; document damage promptly and contact customer service for a large or unusual item. See return FAQs and exclusions.
ScoreCard, ScoreCard+ and Promotions
The basic ScoreCard program earns points on qualifying purchases. DICK’S currently describes one point per qualifying dollar and a $10 reward for 300 points. ScoreCard+ is a separate paid annual membership that automatically renews unless renewal is canceled; the fee is displayed during enrollment. Its membership terms say members can turn off auto-renewal through Manage Membership in their account. Canceling renewal normally leaves benefits active until the current annual term ends and does not normally refund that term’s fee. Keep the signup and cancellation confirmations when reviewing billing or reward issues.
DICK’S advertises a Best Price Guarantee, subject to eligible items, matching requirements and exclusions. Manufacturer restrictions can also exclude new releases and other products from coupons and promotions. Confirm the item, seller, size, offer dates and exclusions before relying on a price match or reward.
Gift Cards, Credit Cards and Warranties
DICK’S gift cards and eGift cards are accepted at DICK’S and several named sister banners under the gift-card terms. Cards do not expire, but lost or stolen cards generally cannot be replaced. Save the card until an order and any refund are complete; do not share its number or PIN in a public review.
DICK’S offers a branded credit card and Mastercard issued by Synchrony, plus financing offers on eligible transactions. Credit-card payments, promotional financing and rewards have separate terms from the merchandise return policy. Read the current credit-card disclosures before applying or selecting financing; promotional financing can result in interest from the purchase date if the balance is not paid within the specified period. Product maker warranties and optional protection plans have their own terms and claim routes.

Frequently asked questions
DICK’S Sporting Goods FAQs
How long do I have to return an item?
Most eligible DICK’S Sporting Goods items have a 90-day window, starting on the purchase date for store sales or original shipment date for online orders. Warehouse and Going, Going, Gone! purchases generally have 30 days, and certain products have additional restrictions or are final sale.
Can I return an online order at a DICK’S store?
Generally yes, for eligible merchandise within its return window. Bring proof of purchase and the payment card if relevant. Online-only products may not qualify for a direct exchange, even though they may qualify for return.
What if I do not have a receipt?
Customer service may be able to retrieve one. An accepted return without valid proof of purchase is generally issued as in-store-only store credit at the lowest selling price and requires valid ID.
Can I cancel an online order?
DICK’S offers a brief opportunity to request cancellation, up to 30 minutes after placing the order, but processing begins immediately and cancellation is not assured. Contact customer service as soon as possible.
How long does a refund take?
An eligible in-store refund to the original payment method may take up to 14 business days to process. A mailed return generally takes 2–3 weeks after DICK’S receives it for a credit to be issued. Payment-provider posting can vary.
Does ScoreCard+ renew automatically?
Yes. The paid annual tier auto-renews unless you turn off auto-renewal in Manage Membership before the deadline described in its terms. The basic ScoreCard program remains available when ScoreCard+ renewal is canceled.
Is Foot Locker the same store as DICK’S?
DICK’S Sporting Goods owns the Foot Locker business, but Foot Locker is a distinct banner. Review the retailer named on your receipt and use that retailer’s own customer-service and return instructions.
