Overview
Liberty Mutual reviews on ZeroStars cover auto, home, renters and other personal insurance, claims handling, billing, renewals, agent service and the Liberty Mutual app. Share a positive, neutral or negative experience using the −5 to +5 scale, including 0 for an ordinary or mixed experience.
Identify your insurance product, state and approximate date. Explain whether you dealt with an independent agent, customer service, a claims representative or an app support team. Use the insurer’s name from your policy documents when reporting a problem; coverage and claim outcomes depend on the policy and circumstances.
Safeco’s Transition to Liberty Mutual
Liberty Mutual’s April 27, 2026 company announcement says the Safeco brand retired effective April 25, 2026. Personal insurance products are now marketed and sold under Liberty Mutual. The announcement says existing Safeco customers keep their agent relationships and that the name change does not affect their policies.
The company also says its direct and independent-agent product offerings remain differentiated. Former Safeco customers should follow the servicing instructions on their own policy documents and renewal notices. Do not assume that a shared brand makes all policies, discounts or account procedures identical.
If your experience began under Safeco, mention that and the date in your review so readers understand the transition.
Policy Changes, Renewal Rates and Billing
For a changed premium or unexpected bill, compare the current policy documents with the previous term. Ask which coverage, deductible, discount, driver or property details changed. Request an explanation of both the total premium and the payment schedule.
The official customer-support page provides access to policy documents, billing preferences and account changes. Past payments appear under Billing → Transaction History in the online account. Keep confirmations and statements when reporting a missing payment or unfamiliar withdrawal.
If you purchased through an agency, contact your agent for additional support. Ask the representative to confirm the policy’s status and any outstanding balance. Do not assume that changing an automatic-payment setting also changes the coverage or cancels the policy.
Filing and Tracking a Claim
Liberty Mutual’s claims support page provides online filing and tracking, with phone support at 1-800-225-2467. Have the incident date and a clear description ready. The app also supports claim management and photo uploads.
You can report a claim against a Liberty Mutual customer even if you are not insured by Liberty Mutual. Follow the non-customer instructions on the claims page. The claim-tracking page explains that a non-customer can create an online account using the claim number provided.
Keep a timeline of submissions and responses. Ask the claims representative what remains outstanding and when to expect the next update. A short online filing process does not mean a claim will be approved or paid within that same timeframe.
Auto Repairs, Glass and Rental Questions
Start with Liberty Mutual’s auto-claims guide when reviewing the repair process. Ask how the estimate, deductible and approval of additional damage will be handled before authorizing work. Keep copies of estimates and repair invoices.
Liberty Mutual’s Guaranteed Repair Network information describes a repair guarantee lasting as long as you own the vehicle for qualifying network repairs. Ask which work and conditions the guarantee covers; do not assume it applies to unrelated maintenance or every repair shop.
For a glass claim, check the glass coverage and deductible in your policy rather than assuming they match the deductible for other auto damage. The claims support page includes a dedicated glass-filing route.
Before booking or extending a rental, confirm your coverage, daily limit and authorized dates with the claims team. For a disputed vehicle valuation, request the report and point out specific errors with supporting records.
Home and Property Claim Follow-Up
Keep photographs, inventories, estimates, receipts and correspondence related to the damage. Ask the claim representative to explain any disputed item and how the policy’s limits, deductible and applicable provisions affect the payment.
If payment is denied or reduced, request the written explanation and the policy language used. Ask how to submit additional evidence for review. Where the policy allows additional payment after repair or replacement, confirm the documentation and completion deadlines rather than assuming every depreciation deduction will be reimbursed.
RightTrack and App Problems
The current RightTrack page distinguishes Continuous and 90-Day programs. Availability depends on your state and policy. RightTrack uses the Liberty Mutual mobile app to collect driving information and calculate a driving score.
In the continuous program, driving information affects pricing at renewal, and Liberty Mutual says higher-risk drivers may see premium increases. Do not rely on an older description promising a fixed discount after a single 90-day monitoring period without checking which program applies to you.
For missing trips, activation trouble or a disputed score, retain the relevant dates and screenshots. Ask support whether all participating drivers are registered correctly and how the score affects your policy. Review the program’s data-use and permission disclosures before deciding whether to enroll or continue.
Cancellation, Refunds and Nonrenewal Notices
Contact your agent or customer service for the cancellation procedure applicable to your policy. Specify the requested effective date, ask what documentation is required and keep written confirmation. Ask for a calculation of any final balance or refund.
If switching insurers, verify the replacement coverage’s effective date before ending the current policy. For a nonrenewal notice, read the stated reason and dates carefully and ask about any available review process. Product availability can vary by state and underwriting company.
Escalating an Unresolved Complaint
Give the agent or claims representative a concise summary, supporting records and the outcome you seek. If the response leaves a specific question unresolved, request supervisor review and retain your case reference.
Use the NAIC state insurance department directory to find your regulator’s complaint resources. Identify the insurer named on the policy or claim letter and follow the department’s instructions. Keep track of deadlines in your documents.
Posting a review on ZeroStars does not submit an insurance claim, cancel a policy or file a regulatory complaint.
Writing a Useful Liberty Mutual Review
Explain the service involved and what happened: clear policy advice, a helpful agent, a smooth repair, delayed communication, a billing error or an unresolved claim. Separate your communication experience from the final coverage decision, and describe the company’s response.
Use a rating from −5 to +5, including 0 for a neutral or mixed result. Keep policy numbers, claim numbers, medical information, precise trip histories and unredacted documents private. Update your review if the outcome changes.
