Overview

Scotch laminator reviews and complaints can involve different models. This guide focuses on the TL1302Z recall and the refund process offered by 3M.

Quick answer: Check the full model number before choosing a recall form. Keep the machine, documentation and case number together while your request is being handled.

Stop using and unplug affected TL1302Z laminators. CPSC recall 27-024, dated October 15, 2026, identifies an overheating/fire hazard and offers a full refund. About 53,634 units sold on Amazon from June 2024 through September 2026 are covered.

Identify the Correct Scotch Laminator

According to 3M’s recall page, the bottom sticker identifies model TL1302Z. The similar TL1302 uses a different linked recall form; TL1302X is not recalled according to that page. Use official photographs and the actual label, not this article’s illustration.

Follow the Official Refund Sequence
  1. Unplug the machine and confirm it is an affected TL1302Z before following 3M’s cord-cutting instructions.
  2. Submit the recall form. An email supplies an eight-digit case number.
  3. Write that number on the bottom as directed. Provide one photo showing the model label, case number and cut cord together, plus a close-up of the label and case number.
  4. Upload those photos and proof of purchase if available. Missing purchase proof does not automatically exclude an otherwise eligible unit.
  5. Retain the laminator and cord until 3M confirms receipt of all required evidence.

CPSC describes payment by mailed check and subsequent disposal under applicable electronics-recycling requirements. The notice does not establish a personal payment date.

What the Official Incident Figures Mean

CPSC says the firm received 63 reports of smoking, melting or overheating, including five fire reports and one minor-property-damage report; no injuries were reported. These are official aggregate figures, not independently inspected customer reviews. Do not add the categories together as separate incidents.

Official Recall Support

3M recall phone, as listed by CPSC: 800-772-4337, Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Central. Start online at the TL1302Z recall page. Calls and refund completion were not tested.

Track your request: Save a copy of each upload, the submission confirmation, case number and any follow-up. If a file is rejected, ask which detail is missing before taking another photo. Record the check as received only when it arrives.

Share Your Scotch Laminator Experience

Positive, neutral and negative firsthand experiences are welcome through the −5 to +5 reader review system. Describe what you bought, approximately when, the support route you tried and the outcome you actually received. Distinguish a submitted request, a promised remedy and money received. Keep order numbers, addresses and payment details private. ZeroStars does not assign a rating before readers submit reviews.

Frequently asked questions

Scotch Laminator Frequently Asked Questions

Should I send the machine to a general company address?

Do not improvise a return. Ask the recall team for case-specific handling instructions before mailing equipment or paying shipping costs.

What if I cannot read the model sticker?

Contact the recall team with clear photos of the appliance and whatever purchase records you have. Do not guess the model or alter a label to make it match.

Does a recall prove that every owner had a bad experience?

No. A recall identifies a safety issue and remedy. No recent firsthand owner accounts were independently inspected for this guide; it does not establish a representative satisfaction rate.
