Overview

Giant Bicycles reviews about the SureLock recall should distinguish the LED-light key from the bicycle lock itself. The October 8, 2026 action offers a key-specific remedy; it is not a recall of every Giant bicycle or lock.

Quick answer: Stop using an affected SureLock LED-light key and bring it to an authorized Giant retailer for the $5 remedy. The lock and non-LED keys may continue to be used under the notices.

Keep the recalled key away from children: CPSC identifies an accessible button-battery ingestion hazard and missing required warnings. Use the official product photographs and eligibility table to check the item.

Check the LED Key and Lock Identification

CPSC recall 27-015 lists affected lock serial ranges and shows the number on the lock’s underside. It describes about 3,630 U.S. units plus 1,395 in Canada, with no reported incidents or injuries. Bring either the complete lock purchase or a photograph of the underside identification to the retailer with the recalled key.

The Official Pages Do Not Match in Every Detail
Detail CPSC notice Giant notice

Identification wording Lock serial-number table Key SKU label and lock date code

Giant’s own announcement confirms the retailer remedy and continued use of the lock/non-LED keys. If a 2023 purchase or unclear label leaves you uncertain, ask Giant or the authorized retailer to check it. Do not resolve the discrepancy by assuming your item is excluded.

Contact Giant Before Your Visit

The notices give 866-458-2555 and Recall@GiantBicycle.com. Ask the retailer what evidence it needs and how it records the returned key and remedy. Save your receipt or case reference after the visit.

Keep identification readable: Photograph the label and lock underside before your visit. Avoid exposing serial numbers or purchase details in a public review; send them privately when the recall team requests them.

Review the Remedy You Actually Experienced

No firsthand SureLock refund completion was verified for this guide. General bicycle-service reviews do not establish the outcome of this key recall. A useful account identifies the retailer contact date, eligibility answer, whether the key was accepted and whether the remedy was completed. Explain any unresolved request with dates and update the same review after resolution.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the $5 payment a full bicycle-lock refund?

The notices describe the recalled LED-key remedy. They do not promise reimbursement of the entire lock-set price.

Should I decide eligibility from purchase year alone?

Use the official identification evidence and ask for clarification where the two notices differ.

Is a general Giant service review evidence of a SureLock incident?

No. State which product and event your account concerns; unrelated service experiences should remain separate.

For a separate retailer issue, see REI reviews and complaints.
