Scheels Overview

Checking a pickup deadline? Compare SCHEELS’ published 7-day and 10-day hold periods, then confirm the deadline for your order with the store.

SCHEELS is a privately held, employee-owned retailer selling sporting goods, outdoor equipment, footwear, apparel and recreation products through stores and scheels.com. Experiences may differ by product, local store, shipping method and whether an item is shipped by a SCHEELS partner. Review the retailer that handled your purchase and describe what happened with selection, advice, delivery, returns or customer care.

Rate a firsthand Scheels experience from −5 to +5 on ZeroStars. A rating of 0 is available for a neutral or mixed experience. Include useful dates and outcomes without publishing order numbers, card information or other private details.

What to Include in Your Review
  • The store location or online channel, item and purchase date.
  • Whether the merchandise was shipped by SCHEELS or a SCHEELS partner, collected in store or received by freight.
  • What the item listing and checkout said about price, shipping, fees, returns and delivery.
  • Support contacts, photographs of defects, return tracking and the final resolution.
Online Orders and Shipping

SCHEELS says it primarily ships online orders by UPS, FedEx or USPS, while large equipment can travel by freight and partner-shipped items may need additional processing. Restricted items can have special shipping fees and address rules, so check the item listing and total at checkout. Once an order ships, SCHEELS sends tracking information for most shipments; some freight and firearm orders may lack a tracking number. A shipping address cannot be changed after shipment. See the shipping policy.

If an order is missing, stolen or arrives damaged, document the tracking history, packaging and condition. SCHEELS offers optional Route package protection at checkout for certain transit problems. For a Route-protected damaged order, its return policy points to a Route claim; for other defective or damaged merchandise, take photographs and contact SCHEELS customer service. This optional protection is a separate checkout service and its fee is generally not refunded with a merchandise return. Read Route information.

How Long Will Scheels Hold a Pickup Order?

Most eligible SCHEELS pickup orders are prepared in about an hour, but wait for the ready email before visiting. Bring the order confirmation and valid photo ID. SCHEELS publishes conflicting pickup deadlines: its curbside FAQ says 7 days after an order is marked ready, while its shipping policy says 10 days. Both describe a refund and return to inventory after the hold expires. Check the deadline in your ready-for-pickup message and confirm it with your pickup store; do not assume the longer period applies. If you need extra time, contact the store before the earlier deadline. Availability and curbside directions vary by store; see the curbside pickup page and pickup policy.

Returns and Exchanges

SCHEELS offers free mail returns within 90 days of an eligible online purchase using its prepaid return label through the return portal and policy. It processes the return after receiving and verifying the item. Original packaging and condition are needed for a full refund. An eligible online or store purchase can also be returned or exchanged at a local SCHEELS store within 90 days with proof of purchase. Items with proof are generally reimbursed to the original payment method; exchanges can be made for a product of equal or lesser value under the stated policy.

Without proof of purchase, an accepted store return requires a valid state-issued ID and results in store credit, not a promised card or cash refund. If an in-store receipt is missing, check MySCHEELS purchase history if you opted into digital receipts, or ask the original store whether it can locate a copy. The help center explains how to find receipts.

Refund Timing and Exclusions

SCHEELS says refunds are made to the original payment form or a SCHEELS gift card and include the product price plus applicable sales tax. Shipping charges, package protection and other surcharges are not refundable under the standard policy. After a return is processed, the credit can take up to 3–5 business days to appear, depending on the bank or payment provider. Keep a mailing receipt until the returned item is received and inspected.

Its return exceptions exclude gift cards, firearms, bows, ammunition, reloading powders and primers, certain pre-owned luxury items and opened car seats, as well as some products whose value diminishes when opened, such as trading cards and autographed memorabilia. SCHEELS may refuse returns tied to fraud, automated purchases or suspected resale. Hockey sticks have a separate 30-day rule, and some defective bats or other products must follow a manufacturer’s warranty process. Check the relevant item and warranty terms before buying; a manufacturer warranty is distinct from a retailer return.

Order Changes and Cancellation

SCHEELS says orders begin processing immediately. Look for the self-service cancellation option in a MySCHEELS account, and contact its customer-experience team as soon as possible if you need a change. Cancellation or editing may no longer be possible once the order advances or ships. If cancellation is unavailable, an eligible item can be returned under the published return policy. See order help.

Price Matching and Promotions

SCHEELS considers competitor prices and its own later price drops through a price-match request. Its help center says the compared item should match exactly in brand, model, size and color, be in stock, and be offered by an authorized retailer. SCHEELS decides eligibility. Opened, used, display and purchase-limited products can be excluded. Submit the competitor information or previous order through the price-match tool and save the response; promotions and price matches may have separate conditions.

MySCHEELS, Visa Rewards and Gift Cards

MySCHEELS is a free shopping account offering purchase history, tracking, saved lists and personalized offers. The optional SCHEELS Visa is a separate credit product, with its own points and card terms. The current card page describes points on eligible purchases and a $25 SCHEELS gift card at 2,500 qualifying points. Card-based financing and protection benefits have separate conditions; check cardholder information before applying or using a financing offer.

SCHEELS gift cards can be used in stores and online, with no expiration date or maintenance fees, according to its gift-card policy. Gift cards themselves are excluded from merchandise returns. Keep the card, receipt and PIN private until any order and refund are settled. Use SCHEELS official support routes if an account, reward or card balance appears wrong.

Ownership and Related Retail Reviews

SCHEELS describes itself as 100% employee-owned and privately held. That ownership is separate from the following other outdoor and sporting-goods retailers: REI, DICK’S Sporting Goods and Academy Sports + Outdoors. Browse the Retail Stores & Shopping category for more experiences.

Frequently asked questions

Scheels FAQs

How long do I have to return a Scheels purchase?

Most eligible online and store purchases can be returned within 90 days of purchase. Item-specific exclusions apply, and some products, including qualifying hockey sticks, have a shorter rule.

Can I return an online order at a Scheels store?

Yes, an eligible online purchase can be returned or exchanged at a local SCHEELS store within 90 days. Bring the order confirmation or other proof of purchase and the item in the condition required by the policy.

What happens if I do not have a receipt?

An accepted return without proof of purchase requires valid state-issued ID and receives store credit. Check MySCHEELS for a digital receipt or ask the original store whether it can retrieve one.

Are online mail returns free?

SCHEELS says eligible online purchases can be returned by mail within 90 days using its prepaid return label. The item must meet its packaging and condition rules.

How long does a Scheels refund take?

After SCHEELS processes an accepted return, it says the refund may take up to 3–5 business days to appear, depending on the bank or payment provider. A mailed return also needs transit and inspection time first.

How long will Scheels hold a pickup order?

The official curbside FAQ says 7 days after the order is marked ready, but the shipping policy says 10 days. Because those pages disagree, confirm your deadline with the pickup store and ask it about extra time before the earlier deadline. See the pickup policy comparison above.

Does Scheels price match?

SCHEELS considers eligible identical, in-stock products from authorized retailers and its own price drops through its request tool. Approval and exclusions are at SCHEELS’ discretion.

Is MySCHEELS a credit card?

No. MySCHEELS is a free shopping account. The SCHEELS Visa is an optional credit card with separate rewards and financial terms.
