Overview

Kinetic reviews and complaints can help other customers understand an Internet, phone, billing, installation or service experience. Share what happened, which service you used and whether the company resolved the issue. Positive, neutral and negative experiences are welcome on ZeroStars’ −5 to +5 rating scale.

Kinetic is the current consumer-facing brand for residential Internet and related services formerly associated with Windstream Communications. Following the Windstream-Uniti merger, current legal and privacy materials identify Uniti Group Inc. doing business as Kinetic. Kinetic provides residential service across 18 states, with fiber expansion continuing alongside legacy network technologies in some areas.

What to Include in Your Kinetic Review

A useful Kinetic review explains your own experience in enough detail for another customer to understand it:

  • Service and location: Fiber Internet, DSL or another Internet service, phone, TV or security service, plus your city or state.
  • What happened: the approximate date, outage, speed problem, bill change, installation appointment, equipment issue or cancellation.
  • Support route: phone, chat, Go Kinetic portal/app, technician visit or Connection Center.
  • Outcome: what Kinetic promised and whether the repair, credit, refund, equipment return or account correction was completed.

Choose the rating that reflects your experience. A rating of 0 is valid. Do not publish account numbers, passwords, payment details, security codes, your full service address or unredacted bills in a public review.

Kinetic, Windstream and Uniti

Kinetic is the current residential and small-business connectivity brand that grew out of Windstream’s local-service business. Kinetic’s current About page describes the company as formerly Windstream Communications. After the Windstream-Uniti merger, Kinetic customer privacy and legal materials are issued under Uniti.

Older bills, equipment labels, email addresses or support references may still use the Windstream name. If a review concerns a legacy account, mention that context so readers understand why both names may appear.

Internet Service and Speed Problems

Kinetic’s network includes fiber as well as legacy technologies in some markets, including DSL and other broadband systems. Available technology, maximum speed and upload performance vary by address.

If your review concerns speed, include the subscribed plan, whether the test used Wi-Fi or a wired Ethernet connection, the approximate time of day and whether the problem affected one device or several. Wi-Fi results can differ because of gateway placement, interference, home construction and device capability.

Outages and Service Interruptions

Kinetic recommends using the Go Kinetic portal or app for troubleshooting and repair tickets. Customers can also call 1-800-347-1991 to report service problems.

Kinetic’s published outage policy says it generally responds to service interruptions as soon as possible and normally within 24 hours after notification. The company also says it generally issues a credit, upon request, for qualifying service interruptions lasting more than 24 hours, provided the problem is reported promptly. Exceptions can apply for events beyond the company’s control, including severe weather and natural disasters.

Billing and Unexpected Charges

Kinetic customers can review bills, make payments and manage Auto Pay through the Go Kinetic portal and app. Current billing materials also identify separate charges that can depend on payment method or billing preference, such as paper-bill fees or credit-card surcharges where permitted.

If a charge is unclear, compare the current statement with the previous bill, original offer and any equipment or service changes. Ask support to identify the exact line item and whether it is a recurring charge, equipment fee, tax, surcharge, expired promotion or one-time adjustment.

Price Changes and Promotional Rates

Kinetic pricing varies by location, network type, speed tier, equipment and promotion. Current offers can include Auto Pay credits, introductory pricing or wireless-bundle discounts. Those terms do not apply universally.

If your review concerns a price increase, include the previous amount, the new amount, the effective date and any notice Kinetic provided. Note whether the change involved the underlying plan price, an expired promotion, equipment, paper billing, Auto Pay eligibility or another fee.

Installation and Technician Visits

New Kinetic Fiber customers in eligible areas can receive professional installation, while some legacy or lower-speed services may qualify for self-installation. Current fiber-upgrade guidance says Kinetic technicians can install a new fiber line, replace equipment, connect devices and check whole-home Wi-Fi coverage.

For installation reviews, record the appointment window, whether the technician arrived, what work was completed, any charges discussed in advance and whether service worked before the technician left.

Equipment, Gateways and Returns

Kinetic customers may use company-provided gateways, extenders, phone equipment, cable boxes or other devices depending on the service. Rented equipment remains the company’s property and must be returned when service is discontinued or when Kinetic requests it.

Kinetic’s moving guidance says customers who move to another Kinetic-served address generally take their modem, power cords and Ethernet cable with them. If the new address is outside the service area, Kinetic says it will send a return kit for the modem. Follow the equipment list and shipping instructions provided for your account, and keep the return receipt or tracking record until the equipment is cleared.

Cancellation and Account Closure

Kinetic’s online terms, effective April 1, 2026, say month-to-month customers can cancel without penalty by calling 1-800-347-1991, while customers with a fixed-term agreement may have separate termination terms or penalties.

Before canceling, confirm the requested disconnect date, final billing treatment, any fixed-term commitment, required equipment returns and whether another bundled service will remain active. Keep the cancellation confirmation until the final bill and equipment status are resolved.

Refunds and Credits

A service credit, billing adjustment and refund are different outcomes. Kinetic’s terms allow certain deposits or advance payments to be applied or refunded depending on the circumstances, while outage credits have their own eligibility rules.

If Kinetic agrees to a refund or credit, ask for the amount, where it will appear and the expected timing. Verify that the adjustment actually posts before treating the issue as resolved.

Contracts and Early Termination

Kinetic’s current residential Fiber marketing says its standard Fiber plans do not require annual contracts, but the company’s legal terms also allow fixed-term agreements when a customer has specifically signed one. Legacy accounts and certain special services can therefore have different cancellation rules.

Review your own order confirmation and service agreement before assuming your account is month-to-month or penalty-free.

Phone Service

Kinetic offers residential voice services in eligible areas. Current support materials include Kinetic Voice and other phone-service features such as voicemail, call forwarding, spam-call tools and repair support.

If your review concerns phone service, identify whether the problem involved dial tone, call quality, voicemail, number transfer, long-distance service, cellular gateway equipment or another feature.

TV and Streaming Service

Kinetic still supports select digital or cable TV services in some markets and also promotes streaming options. Availability is location-specific, and some streaming services are provided independently by third parties.

If your complaint involves TV or streaming, identify the service provider, package and equipment involved. Do not assume a channel lineup or TV product offered in one Kinetic market is available everywhere.

AT&T Wireless Bundle

Kinetic currently markets a billing credit for eligible customers who also have qualifying AT&T wireless service. The wireless service is provided and billed separately by AT&T, and eligibility rules apply.

If your review concerns a bundle discount, separate the Kinetic Internet issue from any AT&T wireless issue and state which company handled the billing or support request.

Security and Kinetic Secure

Kinetic offers optional security products under the Kinetic Secure name. Depending on the product, security features can be managed through the Go Kinetic app and can include protection for devices connected to the Kinetic home network.

Some security products have separate equipment or cancellation terms. If your review involves Kinetic Secure, identify the specific product and whether the issue concerns billing, installation, protection features or cancellation.

Coverage and Availability

Kinetic currently provides residential service across 18 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Texas.

Specific Fiber availability, speed tiers and network technology vary by address. For an availability review, identify your city or general area without posting your full street address.

Go Kinetic App and Online Account Access

The Go Kinetic portal and app can be used to view and pay bills, manage account settings, troubleshoot service, open repair tickets and access support. Customers moving or upgrading service may also receive appointment and equipment information through the platform.

If your review concerns login or app problems, note whether the issue affected the app, website or both and whether password reset or support resolved it. Do not publish usernames, passwords or security codes.
