Overview

Mediacom reviews and complaints can help other customers understand an Xtream Internet, TV, Mobile, home phone, billing or service experience. Share what happened, which service you used and whether the company resolved the issue. Positive, neutral and negative experiences are welcome on ZeroStars’ −5 to +5 rating scale.

Mediacom Communications remains the current company and customer-service brand. Xtream is used for specific consumer products and apps, including Xtream Internet, Xtream WiFi and the Mediacom Xtream1 app. Mediacom also offers TV, home phone and Mediacom Mobile in eligible areas. Availability, speeds, equipment and pricing vary by address and market.

What to Include in Your Mediacom Review

A useful Mediacom review explains your own experience in enough detail for another customer to understand it:

  • Service and location: Xtream Internet, TV, Mobile, home phone or another service, plus your city or state.
  • What happened: the approximate date, outage, speed problem, bill change, installation appointment, equipment issue, mobile-service problem or cancellation.
  • Support route: phone, online account, Xtream1 app, local office or technician visit.
  • Outcome: what Mediacom promised and whether the repair, credit, refund, equipment return or account correction was completed.

Choose the rating that reflects your experience. A rating of 0 is valid. Do not post account numbers, passwords, payment information, one-time security codes, your complete service address or unredacted bills in a public review.

Mediacom and Xtream Branding

Mediacom is still the company name used in current customer agreements, privacy materials, billing terms and customer-service contacts. Xtream is a product family used for Mediacom’s wired Internet, WiFi and related app experiences.

That means an older customer may say “Mediacom Internet,” while a current plan may be labeled “Xtream Internet.” Both can refer to Mediacom residential service. A review should mention the product name shown on the account if that helps explain the experience.

Internet Service and Speed Problems

Mediacom offers wired residential service under the Xtream Internet name and fixed wireless service under the Bolt Internet name in applicable areas. Current Mediacom materials state that advertised speeds are not guaranteed and that available speed tiers vary by location.

Mediacom announced in 2026 that 2-Gig service is available companywide and that 5-Gig service is rolling out in selected markets. Those higher tiers are not available at every address. If your review concerns speed, include the subscribed tier, whether the test used Wi-Fi or Ethernet, the approximate time of day and whether the issue affected one device or several.

Outages and Service Interruptions

Mediacom’s broadband support number is available 24 hours a day. Customers can also use the online account and Xtream1 app for troubleshooting, service management and support.

For an outage review, record when service stopped, when it returned, whether Mediacom identified a known outage and what support said. If you request a credit, document the request and whether it actually appeared on the bill. Eligibility can vary by service, circumstances and applicable local rules.

Billing and Unexpected Charges

Mediacom generally bills recurring service and leased-equipment charges in advance. One-time charges such as installation, delivery, service calls or certain equipment-related items can appear on a later bill. Taxes, governmental fees and other surcharges can also apply.

If a charge is unclear, compare the current statement with the previous bill, the original offer and any recent service or equipment changes. Ask support to identify the exact line item and whether it is a recurring amount, one-time fee, tax, equipment charge, promotion change or another adjustment.

Price Changes and Promotional Rates

Mediacom offers services at different prices and terms depending on the market, address and promotion. Current customer terms allow Mediacom to change rates or service terms with required notice, subject to applicable law.

If your review concerns a price increase, include the old amount, new amount, effective date and any notice Mediacom provided. If a promotional bundle is changed or canceled, related discounts can also end.

Installation and Technician Visits

Installation requirements depend on the service address, network, equipment and whether the home is already connected. Some orders may require a technician, while other changes can be handled through customer equipment or self-service tools.

For an installation review, record the scheduled appointment window, whether the technician arrived, what equipment was installed or replaced, any charges discussed in advance and whether service worked before the visit ended.

Equipment, Modems, Routers and Returns

Mediacom-provided equipment remains Mediacom property unless the customer purchased the device. Customers can also use certain compatible retail modems or routers, but Mediacom may provide more limited support for customer-owned equipment.

Current residential terms require customers to return Mediacom-owned equipment when requested or when service ends. Unless applicable law says otherwise, Mediacom’s current agreement says required equipment must be returned within seven days after service ends. Unreturned equipment can trigger a fee. Follow the return instructions provided for your specific devices and keep the receipt or tracking information until the equipment is cleared from the account.

Cancellation and Account Closure

Mediacom’s current residential agreement says customers can cancel service by calling 1-855-633-4226 or visiting a local customer-service location. Some changes can also be managed through the online account or Xtream1 app.

Unless applicable law provides otherwise, the agreement requires at least seven days’ advance notice for cancellation, and billing continues until service is disconnected. Before ending service, confirm the requested disconnect date, final billing treatment, bundle or promotional effects and all equipment that must be returned.

Refunds and Credits

A service credit, billing adjustment and cash or card refund are different outcomes. If Mediacom agrees to an adjustment, ask for the amount, where it will appear and when it should post.

Mediacom also advertises a 90-Day Guarantee for qualifying new customers with unresolved service issues, subject to current eligibility terms. Do not assume that guarantee applies to an older account or a complaint outside the promotional conditions.

TV Service and Channel Issues

Mediacom provides cable television and related app-based viewing services in eligible areas. Channel lineups, packages, equipment and regional programming vary by market.

If a review concerns missing channels, picture quality, DVR service, streaming access or equipment, identify the package and device involved. A channel lineup or feature available in one Mediacom market may not apply everywhere.

Mediacom Mobile Service

Mediacom Mobile is a separate mobile offering available to customers who meet Mediacom’s eligibility requirements. Current terms require new Mobile customers to have Mediacom Internet, cable television or home phone service and to live in a Mediacom service area when signing up.

Current Mobile terms also say a customer who later disconnects qualifying Mediacom home service may keep Mobile service but can be charged an additional monthly amount per line. For Mobile support or ordering, Mediacom currently lists 1-855-214-2078.

Home Phone and 911 Considerations

Mediacom provides home phone service in eligible areas. Like many cable-based phone services, emergency calling can be affected by power failures, network outages, equipment failures or moving phone equipment away from the registered service address.

If your review concerns phone service, identify whether the problem involved dial tone, call quality, voicemail, number transfer, emergency-calling setup or another feature. Customers who depend on phone service for emergencies should review Mediacom’s current 911 and backup-power guidance.

Coverage and Availability

Mediacom serves selected communities across its national footprint, but Internet speed tiers, Mobile eligibility, TV packages, phone service and installation options are address-specific. Current 2-Gig service is available companywide within Mediacom’s footprint, while 5-Gig service is available only in selected upgraded markets.

For an availability review, identify your city or general area without posting your full street address. This gives readers useful context while protecting personal information.

Mediacom Xtream1 App and Online Account Access

The Mediacom Xtream1 app and online account can be used for service ordering, account changes and other customer-management tasks. Mediacom’s current agreement specifically recognizes the Xtream1 app as a route for ordering and managing certain services.

If your review concerns login or app problems, note whether the issue affected the app, website or both and whether password reset or support resolved it. Do not publish usernames, passwords or verification codes.
