About Walgreens
Editorial information by Eric Strand, founder and publisher of ZeroStars. This guidance is separate from user-submitted customer reviews. Dated figures in this guidance are historical snapshots; the header shows the current published rating. Expand a topic to read more.
Overview
Walgreens is a U.S. retail pharmacy and shopping brand for health, beauty, household and convenience products, prescriptions and photo services. Customers shop in stores or on Walgreens.com and its app for shipping, store pickup and eligible same-day delivery. The rules depend on the product and order route, especially for pharmacy, contact lenses, photo products and restricted merchandise. ZeroStars accepts positive, neutral and negative reviews on a −5 to +5 scale; 0 is a valid rating.
What to Include in Your Review
Identify the store or website, city and state if relevant, purchase date, product and whether you bought it in store, shipped it, picked it up or selected same-day delivery. Describe the advertised and charged prices, order status, substitutions, item condition, staff or customer-care response, and the result you sought. Keep receipts, order numbers and photos for the support team. Do not publish prescription details, medical information, account credentials, a full order number, address or payment-card information in a public review.
Customer Service and Order Support
Walgreens lists 1-800-925-4733 (1-800-WALGREENS) for store inquiries and Customer Relations, and 1-877-250-5823 for Walgreens.com orders and website support. Use its topic-based contact forms to route a request. A store can help with an in-store purchase or pickup; for a pharmacy or photo order, Walgreens directs customers to their local store. An order made through a different delivery marketplace can have separate support terms, so check the retailer and seller shown on the receipt.
Retail Returns and Exchanges
Walgreens’ published return policy generally allows eligible items bought in a store or on Walgreens.com to be returned or exchanged at a Walgreens store within 30 days of purchase with the original receipt or order number. Refunds go to the original payment method. Walgreens.com and app product orders should ordinarily be brought to a store under the policy. Walgreens brand products carry a separate satisfaction guarantee: its policy says customers who are not completely satisfied may return the unused portion to a Walgreens or Duane Reade store for a full refund including shipping. Eligibility remains subject to the policy, verification and applicable law.
No-Receipt Returns and Restricted Items
If the receipt is missing, check Product Purchase History in your Walgreens.com account for an order number. A return without receipt or order number needs store-management approval and may be refunded on a Walgreens gift card. A return after 30 days is also at the manager’s discretion. Walgreens says cosmetics and electronics returns are discretionary, often with gift-card credit. Its restricted-item list includes gift cards, prepaid and phone cards, mobile phones, bathing suits, underwear, earrings, sexual wellness items, seasonal and hazardous-material items, and COVID-19 testing kits. Large medical equipment requires special return instructions from customer care rather than a store drop-off. The general retail policy does not apply to prescriptions or contact lenses; use their separate Walgreens help routes. Product warranties are distinct from the store return policy.
Store Pickup and Curbside
Eligible products can be ordered through Walgreens.com or the Walgreens app for store pickup, sometimes in as little as 30 minutes. Availability, store hours and substitutions can change that estimate. Walgreens lists no added pickup fee, with a $10 minimum estimated subtotal after online promotions and coupons, excluding tax. Options can include in-store, drive-thru and curbside pickup where available; wait for the ready notification and check the location and order contents. Its help page says a pickup order not collected within 72 hours of the ready message is canceled. Pickup returns go to a store, not by mail; the published pickup guidance directs customers to the store’s photo counter and says drive-thru returns cannot be taken. Check the email or account for your digital receipt.
Same-Day Delivery and Missing Orders
Walgreens offers same-day delivery for eligible retail items in participating areas, with a delivery fee shown during checkout. Couriers deliver these orders, and an order may be sourced from more than one store and arrive in separate deliveries. Prescription delivery is a distinct program. If the order is missing, late, damaged or wrong, Walgreens says to call the store that fulfilled it; Walgreens.com support is also available at 1-877-250-5823 for product-order questions. Check the order status, final receipt, messages and delivery notes. The same-day-delivery help says retail items can be returned to a store with the receipt. A failed delivery attempt may refund the items while leaving the attempted-delivery fee payable under the published terms. Report damage promptly and keep photographs and packaging.
Shipping and Order Cancellation
For shipped purchases, use Walgreens’ shipping and order status help for tracking, delivery restrictions and address issues. Some hazardous or shipping-restricted products require ground shipping or cannot ship to certain destinations. Walgreens says a shipped retail order cannot be canceled after submission, and a submitted order cannot be edited to add items. A same-day pickup order can be canceled before pickup; a same-day delivery order may be cancellable if the fulfilling store is reached before the courier collects it. Contact online customer care promptly for a cancellation or shipment problem and verify the order’s status. Shipping charges and refund timing depend on the item and payment route; do not assume an immediate bank posting when a return is accepted.
myWalgreens, Coupons and Prices
myWalgreens is free to join and offers eligible sale prices and Walgreens Cash rewards. The amount earned or redeemable depends on product, promotion, location and applicable law; rewards are promotional value, not cash. Prescription, gift-card, tobacco, alcohol, tax, shipping and other categories can be restricted. Link the membership to your online account, clip eligible paperless coupons before checkout and read a promotion’s thresholds and exclusions. Walgreens says digital coupons may be used in eligible pickup or same-day delivery orders at online checkout; paper coupons cannot be handed over at pickup or delivery. Prices and promotions can differ between Walgreens.com, the app and a physical store, so preserve the offer and receipt when raising a discrepancy.
Gift Cards, Credit Cards and Account Safety
Walgreens gift-card help says its gift cards can be redeemed on Walgreens.com under the applicable terms and do not expire or carry dormancy fees. A Walgreens gift card is different from Walgreens Cash rewards or a refund back to a card. Walgreens also offers a myWalgreens credit card through a separate card program; card-account billing and financing terms should be checked with the issuer. Be cautious with unsolicited requests for a gift-card code, account password or prescription information. Use Walgreens’ official site, app or published phone numbers for account and order concerns, and contact the payment issuer about unauthorized charges.
Pharmacy, Photo and Product-Specific Support
Pharmacy transactions and contact-lens returns are excluded from the general merchandise return policy. Contact the local pharmacy for a prescription concern and use the specific pharmacy help route for order status and service information; prescription delivery differs from same-day retail delivery. Photo orders and hearing aids also have specific terms: Walgreens’ return page lists a 45-day hearing-aid return period. Check the item-specific policy and contact the local store for a photo pickup problem. Do not include protected health information in a public ZeroStars review.
Ownership and Related Retail Reviews
Walgreen Co. announced in August 2025 that it was operating as a private standalone company following its acquisition by Sycamore Partners, in partnership with Stefano Pessina and his family. Duane Reade is named in Walgreens’ brand-product return policy; this does not make unrelated drugstore competitors affiliates. For comparisons, see Target, Walmart, Dollar Tree and Family Dollar. Frequently asked questions
Walgreens FAQs
How long do I have to return an eligible Walgreens item?
Walgreens generally says 30 days from purchase with the receipt or order number for eligible retail items. Prescriptions, contact lenses, restricted products and some specialty items have separate rules; hearing aids are listed at 45 days.
Can I return a Walgreens.com order in a store?
Yes, Walgreens says eligible Walgreens.com and app product orders ordinarily should be brought to a Walgreens store with the receipt or order number. For bulky medical equipment, call customer care first for special instructions.
What if I lost my receipt?
Check Product Purchase History for your order number. Without a receipt or order number, a return is at the store manager’s discretion and may be issued as a Walgreens gift card instead of an original-method refund.
Where do I return a pickup order?
Return eligible pickup merchandise at the store. Walgreens’ pickup help directs customers to the photo counter and says not to mail the item or attempt a return through the drive-thru.
Can I cancel a Walgreens shipped order?
Walgreens says shipped retail orders cannot be canceled once submitted. Pickup can be canceled before collection; for same-day delivery, call the fulfilling store before the courier picks up the order.
Does Walgreens Cash work for every purchase?
No. Walgreens’ rewards terms exclude or limit several categories and locations. Check the current myWalgreens terms and specific promotion before counting on a reward or redemption.
