Office Depot sells office and school supplies, technology, furniture and print services online and through Office Depot and OfficeMax stores. OfficeMax is a related retail banner, and both appear in Office Depot’s published customer policies. Office Depot OfficeMax is part of The ODP Group, which became privately held after its acquisition by Atlas Holdings in December 2025. State whether you bought from an Office Depot or OfficeMax store, OfficeDepot.com, or a third-party Marketplace seller. Include the product or print service, location, order date, promised and actual delivery or pickup date, and how staff or support resolved the issue. For return complaints, give the item category, original packaging condition, receipt status and refund method. Avoid posting your order number, payment details or other private information in a public review.

Office Depot lists 1-800-GO-DEPOT (1-800-463-3768) for general inquiries and product questions, with service daily from 8 a.m. to midnight Eastern time. Its support center also provides live chat, order tracking, returns and store lookup. Store-specific questions can go to the local store. Tech Services subscriptions have a separate published number, 1-888-315-5073, with different hours.

Orders enter processing quickly. If a cancellation button remains in Order Details, Office Depot says you may still cancel there; once the button disappears, it says neither online support nor an agent can cancel that order. A return may be possible after delivery under the applicable policy. For an unreceived same-day order, contact customer service and retain the order confirmation and delivery updates.

Office Depot’s current return policy sets different periods and conditions for purchases with an original receipt:

• Office supplies: 90 days, unopened in original packaging.
• Ink and toner: 30 days, unopened in original packaging.
• Technology and electronics: 14 days, with original packaging and UPC, in like-new condition.
• Furniture: 14 days, unassembled and in original packaging with UPC, parts and manuals.
• Software, CDs, DVDs and video games: 14 days unopened; opened items may be exchanged for the same item, while downloadable software is not returnable.
• Office Depot brand products: returnable anytime under the published policy, except ink and toner.

The policy lists cleaning, breakroom, safety and facility products as nonreturnable, as well as gift cards, prepaid cards and phone cards. Special-order and custom-made items are generally nonreturnable unless damaged on receipt; tech services follow their own service terms. Check the particular item listing and purchase terms before relying on a general window.

Eligible items purchased online or in store can be returned with an original receipt at an Office Depot or OfficeMax store within the applicable period. Online purchases can also be returned by mail using a free label from online order history; that process requires an online account. The policy also allows returns of eligible store-pickup orders in a store. An original register receipt, eReceipt, packing slip or order confirmation counts as an original receipt under the policy.

A no-receipt return requires valid government identification. Technology products without an original receipt are ineligible. Software and media without an original receipt qualify only for exact-item exchange. For other eligible active items, Office Depot says it issues an Office Depot or OfficeMax Return Card equal to the lowest retail price in the prior 90 days; it can request identification or deny a return or exchange. A Return Card is distinct from a refund to the original payment method.

Office Depot says in-store returns generally process faster than mailed returns, but the ultimate posting time for card refunds depends on the bank or card issuer. With an original receipt, cash purchases and checks more than 10 days old are refunded in cash. Recent check purchases and gift-card purchases are refunded by Return Card, which Office Depot says is received within three to four weeks. Refunds of rewards certificate payments are issued by check within three to four weeks. PayPal payments follow separate PayPal refund details. Keep your return receipt and tracking until the refund or card arrives.

OfficeDepot.com also hosts third-party Marketplace Retailers. Office Depot’s Marketplace terms say those sellers handle fulfillment, shipping, returns and customer service. Marketplace products follow each seller’s return policy and cannot be returned to Office Depot stores. Look for the Seller Information page before purchase and keep the seller name when reporting a problem. The price-match policy also excludes Marketplace listings. Manufacturer-direct catalog or website purchases are addressed separately in Office Depot’s standard return policy and may be returned in store or through online order history, if otherwise eligible.

For eligible in-store or curbside pickup orders, select a participating store at checkout and wait for the separate ready-for-pickup email. Office Depot says it holds these orders for 10 days, then cancels and refunds an uncollected order. Bring the pickup confirmation or order number and a government-issued ID; the name must match or the designated pickup person must have been selected when ordering. Availability and curbside service vary by item and store. A pickup order can be canceled by calling the pickup store.

Same-day delivery is available only for eligible products and ZIP codes shown at checkout. Office Depot says delivery windows, charges and product restrictions apply; its published page lists a 5 p.m. local cutoff for qualifying same-day orders, subject to availability. Custom printing, oversized furniture and special orders may be excluded. Shipping offers and delivery times vary by order and address. If a package is missing or damaged, check tracking and contact support with the order information; report a same-day delivery that did not arrive to the listed customer-service number.

Office Depot and OfficeMax advertise a price-match policy for a qualifying new, identical, in-stock item at a qualifying retailer, at purchase or within 14 days. The same model, features and warranty must match. Exclusions include third-party Marketplace items, clearance, out-of-stock and some holiday offers; documentation and other restrictions apply. For online matching, Office Depot directs customers to its support number or chat. Coupon eligibility depends on the specific offer and purchase channel; an in-store-only coupon may not apply to online pickup.

Office Depot OfficeMax Rewards is free to join. Eligible purchases earn rewards, but Marketplace items, gift and prepaid cards, delivery fees and certain services are excluded. Recycling rewards and higher-tier benefits have additional conditions, and returned purchases do not retain earned rewards. Check the current account terms before comparing a rewards certificate with cash or card refunds.

Office Depot and OfficeMax gift cards are not returnable under the standard return policy. When reviewing a print job, include what was ordered, the file and quantity requirements, the promised completion time and the actual result. Same-day print availability and quantity limits vary by service and store. For technology or furniture, distinguish the retailer’s return period from a manufacturer warranty or separately purchased protection or tech service; the latter may have its own terms.

Office Depot and OfficeMax are retail brands within The ODP Group. Atlas Holdings completed its acquisition of The ODP Corporation in December 2025; the group is privately held. Yes, an eligible direct OfficeDepot.com purchase can generally be returned to a store with the original receipt or order confirmation within the applicable period. Third-party Marketplace purchases cannot be returned to Office Depot stores and follow the seller’s rules.

Many eligible items can be returned in store with government ID, but technology products are ineligible without an original receipt. Other accepted no-receipt returns generally receive a Return Card based on the lowest retail price in the preceding 90 days.

Check Order Details immediately. If the cancel button is available, use it there; if it is gone, Office Depot says the order cannot be canceled by a customer-care agent either. You may be able to return the product after delivery under its return policy.
