Overview

Maytag reviews can cover washers, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers and cooking appliances, as well as warranty claims and customer service. Share what worked, what went wrong and how the company responded. ZeroStars accepts ratings from −5 to +5, including 0 for a neutral or mixed experience.

Maytag is part of Whirlpool Corporation’s brand portfolio. That ownership does not make every related brand’s support number, warranty or order process interchangeable. Use the Maytag routes below for Maytag products; see our separate Whirlpool reviews page for Whirlpool-branded appliances. Browse other companies in Appliances.

What to Include in a Maytag Review

Identify the appliance type, model, approximate age and purchase channel. For laundry products, describe the load, cycle, cleaning or drying result, vibration, noise and any error code. For kitchen appliances, explain the affected function and whether the problem was intermittent or repeatable. Do not publish your full serial number, address, order number or private service records.

A useful positive review explains dependable performance or an effective repair. A neutral review can describe acceptable results with limitations. A negative review is more useful with dates, quoted costs, missed appointments, parts delays and the final outcome. Separate your experience with Maytag from the retailer, delivery crew or independent repair company, and update your review if the issue is resolved.

Understanding Maytag’s Ten-Year Parts Warranty

A ten-year limited parts warranty is not ten years of comprehensive repairs. Maytag’s warranty overview describes extended coverage for selected components. Covered parts vary by appliance, and some models have different initial coverage periods. Check the warranty supplied with your exact model, especially for commercial-grade in-home products; that description does not establish coverage for commercial use.

For example, Maytag’s published limited-warranty document W11706287A provides qualifying parts and labor during the first year from delivery, followed by specified parts-only coverage in years two through ten. Later-year labor is excluded. Selected laundry components include the washer drive motor and basket side walls, or dryer motor and drum side walls. This document is an example, not a substitute for your model’s terms.

Its exclusions include improper installation or maintenance, misuse, consumables, commercial or other excluded uses, and certain cosmetic damage. Damage caused by unauthorized service or third-party parts is excluded; their use alone does not void the warranty. Warranty work must go through authorized providers. Ask Maytag to identify the applicable provision and separate covered parts from diagnostic, labor and other charges before agreeing to a repair.

Registration, Manuals, Repairs and Parts

Use the registration and manuals links above to organize your appliance information and find its operating instructions, installation requirements and warranty. Keep the original receipt and delivery record alongside those documents.

The official repair portal offers scheduling and appointment management through W Service, with Maytag-trained technicians and genuine OEM parts. It also provides a separate route for extended service plans and displays Domestic & General branding. A paid protection plan has its own contract and claims process; it is not the same as the manufacturer’s limited warranty.

Before booking, confirm whether the visit is a manufacturer warranty claim, protection-plan claim or paid repair. Ask who will attend, whether authorization is required, what happens if the fault is not covered and whether a return visit carries an additional charge. For parts purchases, match the complete model number and confirm compatibility rather than relying on the appliance’s appearance.

Maytag.com Returns Versus Retailer Returns

The Maytag.com return policy applies to direct purchases. Eligible new, unused major appliances can be returned within 15 days of delivery without a return fee; initial delivery testing is permitted. Original delivery, shipping and service charges are not refunded. Eligible returns during days 16–30 generally carry a 20% restocking fee, with a $50 minimum; Hawaii has a separate $50 fee. The policy lists 1-866-808-9274 to arrange major-appliance returns. After 30 days, use the applicable warranty or service route. Damage and parts/accessory returns have separate conditions.

If you bought from Lowe’s, Home Depot or another retailer, request returns and exchanges through that seller’s policy. A manufacturer repair claim does not automatically extend a retailer’s return deadline. Record delivery damage promptly and keep photographs and the delivery paperwork.

Delivery and Installation Responsibilities

For direct orders, review Maytag’s delivery and installation requirements and the services selected at checkout. Basic installation does not include new utility connections or cabinet modifications. Accessible, compatible hookups and a clear delivery path matter; appliance-specific restrictions also apply.

Check whether installation and old-appliance haul-away were purchased. Maytag says that if haul-away was selected without installation, the old appliance should be professionally disconnected and moved from its space before delivery. Retailer-arranged deliveries and independently hired installers have their own agreements. When reporting a problem, identify who sold and performed the service rather than assuming the appliance warranty covers an installation error.

Maytag Recalls and Product Service Campaigns

Check the manufacturer’s recall and quality-initiative directory using your model and serial number. It includes a no-cost proactive upgrade for certain Maytag, Whirlpool and KitchenAid dishwashers that the manufacturer describes as having no associated safety risk. That campaign is distinct from a safety recall.

Historical safety notices can still matter for older appliances. The CPSC’s 2010 Maytag dishwasher recall concerns specified dishwashers with a fire hazard and directs affected owners to stop using them and disconnect power at the fuse or circuit breaker. Check the notice’s identification criteria and follow its instructions; the Maytag name alone does not establish that your appliance is affected.

Escalating an Unresolved Maytag Service Issue

Follow up with the existing case number and a brief timeline: purchase, first failure, technician visits, diagnosis, parts ordered and promised next steps. Request supervisor review if the original contact cannot resolve the issue, and ask for a written explanation of any coverage denial. State the outcome you are requesting, such as a completed repair, clarification of charges or review of a repeated failure.

Use Maytag’s official phone, contact form or mailing address above. Keep retailer return disputes with the seller and protection-plan disputes with the plan administrator. If you paid an independent installer or repairer, identify that company and its invoice separately. A public review can document the experience, but it does not open a Maytag service claim.

Maytag FAQs

Who owns Maytag?

Maytag belongs to Whirlpool Corporation. Use Maytag’s brand-specific support and your product’s warranty rather than assuming another group brand’s arrangements apply.

Does the ten-year warranty pay for every repair?

No. Extended coverage concerns selected parts and depends on the model. Check labor coverage and exclusions in the applicable warranty before authorizing work.

Where can I schedule authorized Maytag service?

Start with the official W Service portal linked above or contact Maytag support. Tell them whether you are seeking warranty coverage, using a service plan or paying yourself.

Can Maytag accept a return for an appliance bought elsewhere?

Start with the retailer that sold it for a return or exchange. Maytag’s manufacturer warranty is a separate route for qualifying product defects.

Can I leave a positive review or give Maytag a 0?

Yes. ZeroStars welcomes positive, neutral and negative experiences across the −5 to +5 scale. A 0 is valid; explain the tradeoffs or mixed outcome behind it.
