Overview

KitchenAid reviews can cover refrigerators, dishwashers, ranges, ovens and other major appliances, along with stand mixers and countertop products. Describe the product’s performance, customer service, warranty handling or repair experience. ZeroStars welcomes positive, neutral and negative reviews on its −5 to +5 scale, including 0.

KitchenAid is part of Whirlpool Corporation’s brand portfolio. Related brands have their own product and support arrangements: see our separate Whirlpool and Maytag pages for those brands. This page belongs to the Appliances category.

Writing a Useful KitchenAid Review

Start with the product type, model, approximate age and where you bought it. A refrigerator review might describe temperature control, ice production or a service diagnosis. A dishwasher review can explain cleaning, drying, noise and cycle results. For a mixer, include the attachment, batch size and task involved rather than describing every model as performing the same way.

Explain what happened and what KitchenAid did next. Positive experiences with reliable products or a successful replacement are useful, as are mixed results or unresolved problems. Include repair dates, parts delays, quoted costs and the eventual outcome. Identify the retailer or independent contractor separately, and keep serial numbers, addresses and private case documents out of public reviews.

KitchenAid Warranty Coverage Depends on the Product

Use the model-specific warranty in the Owners Center. Do not assume a stand mixer, freestanding refrigerator and built-in refrigerator have identical coverage.

For example, KitchenAid’s major-appliance warranty W11655294A describes one year of qualifying parts and labor from delivery, with two years for listed commercial-style ranges, built-in refrigerators and built-in ice makers. It also describes years two through five coverage for specified sealed-refrigeration components and labor on listed refrigeration products. This is an example document; your model’s warranty controls.

That document excludes items such as misuse, improper installation or maintenance, consumables, certain cosmetic damage, excluded commercial use and specified access or transportation costs. It excludes damage caused by unauthorized service or third-party parts, while stating their use alone does not void the warranty. Covered work must use authorized KitchenAid providers. Ask for the applicable warranty provision and an itemized explanation of uncovered charges.

KitchenAid’s stand-mixer guidance describes a one-year limited warranty with hassle-free replacement for new stand mixers. Confirm eligibility and the return instructions with countertop support before sending a mixer anywhere. Refurbished, commercial and other countertop products may have different terms.

Authorized Repairs, Mixer Service and Replacement Parts

The major-appliance W Service portal offers scheduling, appointment management and a separate extended-service-plan route. It describes KitchenAid-trained technicians using genuine OEM parts and displays Domestic & General branding. A paid service plan has its own contract; it is separate from the manufacturer warranty. Before booking, establish whether the visit is a warranty claim, plan claim or paid repair, and ask about diagnostic and labor charges.

Stand mixers have a different repair option. KitchenAid’s official mixer repair guide lists the Greenville factory at 1-855-845-9684, Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5:30 p.m. EST. It offers shipping kits and says the factory provides an estimate for approval before repair. This is not a promise of free shipping or free repair.

Use the complete model number when ordering bowls, beaters, filters or other parts. KitchenAid says its factory and contact centers do not directly sell internal mixer repair parts to consumers; its repair guide points to authorized service facilities. Ask support about warranty eligibility before arranging independent work.

Direct-Purchase Returns and Retailer Returns

Major appliances: The KitchenAid.com return policy permits eligible new, unused returns within 15 days of delivery without a return fee, allowing initial delivery-team testing. Original delivery, shipping and service charges are not refunded. Eligible returns during days 16–30 carry a 20% restocking fee with a $50 minimum. The policy lists 1-866-808-9274 to arrange these returns. Beyond the return window, use the applicable warranty or service process.

Countertop appliances: The separate countertop return policy lists 60 days from shipment for direct purchases, with products returned in new, unused condition. Call 1-800-541-6390 for authorization and the prepaid label; free return shipping has conditions and excludes parts and accessories. Personalized items have additional restrictions.

Retail purchases: If you bought from Best Buy, Home Depot or another seller, that retailer handles returns under its own policy. A KitchenAid warranty claim is a separate process and does not automatically extend the retailer’s deadline. Report delivery damage promptly and retain photographs and order records.

Delivery, Installation and Built-In Appliances

For KitchenAid.com orders, check the delivery and installation requirements and the services available for your address at checkout. Confirm installation, removal and haul-away individually rather than assuming delivery includes them.

The published instructions impose appliance-specific limits: refrigerator cabinet openings must already fit, cabinetry is not modified, and water shutoffs must be accessible. Dishwasher hardwire installation availability depends on location and local requirements. Check your model’s instructions and the order’s scope before the crew arrives.

For a built-in appliance, ask who is responsible for access, panels, utility work and any required alterations. Keep a retailer’s installation agreement or independent contractor’s invoice separate from the manufacturer warranty. A product defect, an installation error and a missed delivery appointment need different supporting records.

KitchenAid Recalls and Service Campaigns

Use the official recall and quality-initiative directory to check the exact product. It includes a proactive, no-cost upgrade for certain KitchenAid, Maytag and Whirlpool dishwashers that the company describes as having no associated safety risk. That quality initiative is distinct from a safety recall.

For older countertop products, the 2018 CPSC KitchenAid electric-kettle recall covers specified 1.7-liter kettles whose handles can separate and cause burns. Affected owners are instructed to stop using the kettle and contact Whirlpool for a free replacement. Match the model and serial criteria in the notice; the brand name alone does not establish eligibility.

Escalating an Unresolved KitchenAid Issue

Contact the appropriate major-appliance or countertop team with the existing case number and a short timeline. Include the reported fault, service findings, promised parts or appointments and the outcome you want. Request supervisor review when the original contact cannot resolve the issue, and ask for a written explanation of a warranty denial or disputed fee.

Keep receipts, estimates, service reports and correspondence. Route retailer refunds to the seller, plan claims to the administrator and independent installation disputes to the contractor. For an unresolved recall remedy, the linked CPSC notice provides a recall-complaint route. Posting on ZeroStars documents an experience; it does not submit a service request to KitchenAid.

Frequently asked questions

KitchenAid FAQs

Who owns KitchenAid?

KitchenAid is a Whirlpool Corporation brand. Related ownership does not make Whirlpool, Maytag and KitchenAid warranties or customer-service contacts interchangeable.

Which KitchenAid phone number should I use?

Use 1-800-422-1230 for major appliances and microwaves, or 1-800-541-6390 for countertop appliances. The contact section above includes the separate major-appliance scheduling portal.

Do all KitchenAid appliances have the same warranty?

No. Coverage varies by product, model and component. Check the exact warranty, including labor, shipping, access costs and exclusions, before authorizing work.

Can I return a mixer using the major-appliance return policy?

Use the countertop policy for a direct-purchase mixer. Major appliances have a different return window, and purchases from other retailers follow the seller’s policy.

Can a KitchenAid review be positive or rated 0?

Yes. Choose a rating from −5 to +5 that reflects your experience. A 0 is valid for a neutral or mixed result; explain the product’s strengths, limitations and service outcome.
