Overview
State Farm reviews on ZeroStars cover auto, home, renters and life insurance, claims handling, billing, agent service and the State Farm app. Share a positive, neutral or negative experience on the −5 to +5 scale. A rating of 0 is valid for an ordinary or mixed experience.
Identify the insurance product, state and approximate date when describing your experience. Explain whether you dealt with a local agent, a claims representative or technical support. Coverage and claim outcomes depend on the policy, endorsements and circumstances; a different customer’s experience may not match your own.
Policy Service, Rates and Billing
For questions about a quote, renewal premium or policy change, start with your agent. Compare the old and new policy documents and ask which coverage, deductible, discount or rating information changed. Request an explanation of any unfamiliar charge rather than assuming the entire difference is a rate increase.
State Farm’s customer-care page provides access to policy management, insurance ID cards, billing and payment options. Keep payment confirmations and notices when reporting a missing payment or unexpected withdrawal. Ask support to confirm the policy’s current status and any amount still due.
Auto Claims, Repairs and Rental Cars
You can report an auto claim online, through the State Farm app or by calling the claims line. The official auto-claims page also provides a route for non-customers filing against a State Farm policyholder. Have the incident date, location, vehicle information and damage description ready.
State Farm says customers can choose their repair shop. Ask the claims representative to explain the estimate, deductible and any process for reviewing additional damage found during repairs. Confirm rental eligibility, limits and authorized dates before relying on reimbursement.
Use the account or app to check status, upload documents and communicate with the claims team. State Farm does not promise one settlement timeline for every claim. Ask what information is still needed and when to expect the next update.
Home and Property Claim Questions
When reviewing a property estimate, identify the specific item or calculation you question. Keep photographs, inventories, contractor estimates, receipts and the insurer’s correspondence. Ask the claim representative to explain how the policy’s deductible, limits and applicable provisions affect the payment.
For a denial or partial payment, request the written explanation and the policy language used in the decision. If you have additional evidence, ask where to send it for review and keep confirmation that it was received. Avoid treating an initial estimate as a guarantee that every later expense will be covered.
Drive Safe & Save and App Support
State Farm’s Drive Safe & Save FAQ says the program has moved into the main State Farm app. Look for the Safe & Save tab. Each driver should use their own login and complete the required setup and permissions for trip recording.
The FAQ explains that an enrollment discount can be removed back to its starting date if setup is not completed in time. After setup and sufficient data collection, the premium adjustment is updated at renewal using mileage and driving characteristics. The displayed driving score is not itself the discount amount.
For missing trips, an incorrect vehicle or a changed discount, record the app version, dates and relevant screenshots. Ask your agent about policy or driver eligibility and use the official support options for app problems. Do not promise yourself a particular savings percentage based only on the dashboard score.
Cancellation and Refund Follow-Up
State Farm’s cancellation instructions direct customers to their agent and describe phone cancellation, including scheduling a future effective date. Have the policy information available and ask what documentation your situation requires.
Request written confirmation of the cancellation date and ask whether a remaining balance or refund applies. Stopping an automatic payment is not the same as confirming that a policy has been canceled. When changing insurers, verify the new coverage’s effective date before ending existing coverage.
Escalating an Unresolved Complaint
First give the agent or claims representative a concise summary of the problem, the relevant documents and the outcome you are requesting. If the response does not address the issue, ask for supervisor review and keep a record of names, dates and case references.
The NAIC state insurance department directory connects consumers with their state regulator and complaint resources. Identify the insurer named on your policy or claim letter when using those resources. Follow the relevant department’s instructions and any deadlines in your documents.
A public review on ZeroStars does not file an insurance claim, submit a regulatory complaint or replace the insurer’s review process.
Writing a Useful State Farm Review
Explain the service involved and what happened: a helpful agent, clear coverage explanation, smooth claim, delayed response, billing problem or unresolved dispute. Distinguish the service experience from the final coverage decision. Include how the company responded and update your review if the outcome changes.
Keep policy numbers, claim numbers, medical records, full addresses and other private information out of your public review. Rate your own experience from −5 to +5, including 0 for a neutral or mixed result.
