About UPS
UPS, also known as United Parcel Service, delivers packages within the United States and internationally. This page focuses on consumer experiences receiving online orders, sending personal packages and getting help when a delivery goes wrong.
When reviewing UPS, explain whether you were the recipient or sender and identify the shipping service if you know it. Distinguish the delivery experience from the merchant’s handling of your order or a local store’s packing service.
Tracking a UPS Package
Start with official UPS tracking. A “Label Created” status means UPS has received shipment information; it does not by itself confirm UPS has the package. Ask the sender about handoff if that status does not change. Packages moving long distances can also go between hubs without another scan.
Save the tracking history and expected delivery date when reporting a problem. If tracking shows an exception, read the details before assuming the package is lost. The UPS package-location guide provides tracking and delivery-notice help.
Delivered but Missing, or a Missed Delivery Attempt
If tracking says delivered but the package is missing, check other entrances, sheltered areas and anyone who might have accepted it. Review any available delivery details and contact the seller and UPS if you still cannot locate it. Describe what you checked without assuming theft or blaming a particular person.
If the driver left a delivery notice, use its number or your tracking number to check the next step. Follow the actual pickup or redelivery instructions shown for that shipment.
Changing a Delivery or Correcting an Address
UPS provides delivery-change options through tracking and UPS My Choice. Eligible recipients can request changes using the options displayed for their package. Availability depends on the shipment, and the sender may restrict changes.
If “Correct my Address” is unavailable, contact the sender. Senders can separately request UPS Delivery Intercept before delivery; fees can apply. Do not assume a requested change has been completed until its status confirms the outcome.
Lost or Damaged Packages: Recipients and Senders
The UPS claims page allows recipients to begin eligible claims as guests, but some shipper accounts block recipient claims. If blocked, contact the sender. UPS directs recipients to the shipper for claim updates and generally sends approved claim payments to the shipper.
Report damage promptly. Keep the item, carton and packing materials, along with proof of value. UPS may need photographs or an inspection. Its supporting-document guidance explains the information needed to describe and value the contents.
The U.S. claims page says to start lost or damaged package claims within 60 days of scheduled delivery; the support center encourages reporting missing or damaged packages within 30 days. Act promptly and check the requirements for your shipment instead of waiting until a deadline.
For an online purchase, separately ask the merchant about a replacement or order refund. Explain that a carrier investigation is underway, if applicable. A UPS claim decision and the merchant’s resolution of your purchase are different processes.
Late Deliveries and Shipping Refunds
A late package does not automatically qualify for a shipping refund. Check the current UPS Service Guarantee for the service used, applicable conditions and exclusions. Guarantee coverage can change.
If the merchant arranged shipping, ask it to review the delivery charge and available resolution. If you purchased the shipment yourself, keep your receipt and contact the provider that sold you the shipping service. Be clear whether you are requesting a shipping-charge adjustment, reimbursement for damage or a refund for the merchandise.
Packages Shipped Through The UPS Store
A shipment purchased through The UPS Store may require help from the originating store. Its shipping guidance directs the sender to notify the location that shipped the item to begin a damage claim. A prepaid-label drop-off is different from purchasing packing and shipping through that store.
Keep the store receipt and identify who packed the item and whose shipping account was used. If you are the recipient, ask the sender to contact the originating location.
Writing a Helpful UPS Review
Positive, negative and mixed experiences are welcome. Include the approximate date, shipping service, what happened, who you contacted and the outcome. Explain whether the package arrived later, was replaced or remains unresolved. Update your review if the situation changes, and keep claims about other people limited to what you personally observed.

Frequently asked questions
UPS FAQs
Can a recipient file a UPS claim?
For eligible shipments, yes, through guest claims. A sender’s account restrictions may require the sender to handle it instead.
Does “Label Created” mean UPS has my package?
No. It confirms shipment information was supplied. Contact the sender if you need confirmation that the package was handed over.
Should I throw away damaged packaging?
No. Retain the contents and packaging while the claim is being reviewed, and follow any inspection instructions.
Does UPS refund every late shipment?
No. Eligibility depends on the purchased service and current guarantee terms. Contact the seller of the shipping service about your specific shipment.
Why can’t I change my delivery?
The package may be ineligible or the sender may have restricted changes. Contact the sender when the required option is unavailable.
Does leaving a review submit a claim to UPS?
No. Submit a separate request through official UPS support. ZeroStars reviews share experiences publicly and do not start a company complaint or claim.
