About Burlington
Burlington is a U.S. off-price retailer offering clothing, shoes, accessories, home goods and other changing assortments in its stores. Selection, sizes, prices and promotions can vary by location and visit. This page is for shoppers to share a positive, neutral or negative experience using ZeroStars’ −5 to +5 scale; 0 is also a valid rating. Describe what happened and which store, product and date were involved.
What to Include in Your Review
Include the store location, purchase date, merchandise category, the amount paid, whether you kept a receipt, and the outcome you requested. For a return or layaway issue, say when you contacted the store, which policy applied, what refund or merchandise credit you were offered, and whether the matter was resolved. Avoid posting full card numbers, account credentials, gift card numbers or other private information.
Store Shopping, Pricing and Availability
Burlington’s website displays examples of deals, but says styles, selections, availability and prices may vary by store; pictured products may not be at your local location. Check with the store about a particular item before making a trip. Keep the shelf tag and receipt when reporting a price discrepancy, and note any promotion’s date and conditions. The website’s gift card offerings should not be confused with an online catalog of all in-store merchandise.
Returns and Exchanges
Burlington’s general return policy calls for merchandise to be returned within 30 days of purchase with the original receipt, in new, unused and unwashed condition and original packaging. Eligible receipted returns within that period are refunded to the original payment method. Returns are subject to verification, and Burlington says it may limit or refuse returns. Product-specific rules and payment methods may affect the result; ask the store about an exchange or exception before assuming one is available.
Returns Without a Receipt or After 30 Days
A return without the original receipt requires a government-issued photo ID and, if accepted, may receive merchandise credit based on the item’s lowest selling price rather than the original price. Burlington says a receipted return after 30 days, if accepted, receives merchandise credit. Its published policy also discusses returns after 60 days; that language does not promise acceptance of late returns. Keep documentation of the purchase and the store’s decision. Merchandise credit is distinct from a refund to a card or in cash.
Jewelry Counter Returns
Jewelry purchased at a Burlington jewelry counter has additional conditions: return or exchange at the original purchase store, with the receipt, within 30 days, or within 45 days where a qualifying loyalty benefit applies. The item must be new and unused, with its original packaging and attached tags. A government-issued photo ID and return verification are required. Burlington states jewelry counter merchandise is not eligible for layaway. Confirm the rules with the purchasing store if you have a jewelry issue.
Layaway
Layaway is available only at participating stores and generally holds eligible items for 30 days. Burlington lists an initial payment of the greater of $10 or 20% of the purchase price, plus a service fee ($5, or $1 in Maryland). Cancellations and uncompleted layaways may incur an additional $10 fee, with state exceptions. Burlington describes eligible refunds as merchandise credit less applicable fees. Some categories, including food, wall art, rugs, lamps and furniture, are excluded. Ask your store for its transaction terms and retain your layaway receipt.
Burlington Loyalty Program
Burlington’s free loyalty program offers member communications and benefits at participating locations. Its published benefits include an extended return period of 45 days at select stores and receipt-free returns where a qualifying transaction can be located, subject to verification. Electronic receipts and a layaway bonus merchandise credit are also described for participating stores or qualifying transactions. Ask an associate whether your location and purchase qualify. The loyalty program differs from the separate Burlington Credit Card rewards program.
Gift Cards and Store Credit
Burlington offers gift cards and eGift cards and provides gift card information and a balance-check route on its official site. If a gift card fails at checkout or has an unexpected balance, keep your purchase confirmation and card details for Burlington support, but do not post the card number publicly. A merchandise credit issued for a return or layaway is not necessarily the same as money refunded to your original payment method; check the issued credit’s terms with the store.
Burlington Credit Card
The Burlington Credit Card is issued by Comenity Capital Bank, with separate cardholder support from Burlington’s general customer service. Burlington advertises rewards for qualifying credit card purchases, subject to current program terms; credit approval, offers and rewards can vary. For a billing, payment or account issue, contact the card issuer using the official number below. For a disputed in-store purchase or return, keep both the store receipt and card statement.
Store Support and Account Safety
For a product, register or return issue, start with the purchasing store and keep the receipt, tag and any merchandise credit documentation. Use Burlington’s store locator for local details. For loyalty, gift card or broader customer service questions, use Burlington’s official contact page. If you suspect an impersonation, fraudulent gift card request or unexpected account message, go directly to Burlington’s published site or call its published number rather than using a link or phone number supplied in the message.
