Overview
Mint Mobile reviews and complaints can help other customers understand a prepaid wireless, billing, device, coverage, Home MINTernet or customer-service experience. Share what happened, which plan or device you used and whether Mint resolved the issue. Positive, neutral and negative experiences are welcome on ZeroStars’ −5 to +5 rating scale.
Mint Mobile is a prepaid wireless brand in the T-Mobile family and uses the T-Mobile 4G LTE and 5G networks. Current phone plans include 6GB, 17GB, 23GB and Unlimited options sold in prepaid multi-month terms. Mint also offers 5G Home MINTernet in eligible areas. Pricing, promotions, data management, hotspot allowances and Home MINTernet availability vary by plan and location.
What to Include in Your Mint Mobile Review
A useful Mint Mobile review explains your own experience in enough detail for another customer to understand it:
- Plan and device: 6GB, 17GB, 23GB, Unlimited, Home MINTernet or another Mint service.
- What happened: the approximate date, billing issue, slow service, activation problem, device return, unlock request, number transfer, account-security problem or Home MINTernet issue.
- Support route: phone, chat, Mint app, online account or return form.
- Outcome: what Mint promised and whether the refund, credit, unlock, return, transfer or account correction was completed.
Choose the rating that reflects your experience. A rating of 0 is valid. Do not publish passwords, transfer information, payment details, one-time verification codes or unredacted account records in a public review.
Current Mint Mobile Phone Plans
Mint’s current phone-plan lineup includes 6GB, 17GB, 23GB and Unlimited plans. Customers prepay for multiple months of service rather than receiving a traditional postpaid monthly bill.
Mint periodically runs new-customer promotions, including current offers that discount 3-, 6- or 12-month terms. Promotional pricing does not necessarily continue at renewal, so reviews about pricing should identify whether the amount was introductory or regular renewal pricing.
Prepaid Multi-Month Service
Mint’s business model is based on prepaying for service in multi-month blocks. That can make the effective monthly price lower, but it also means customers may pay several months in advance.
If your complaint concerns renewal or cancellation, identify the plan length, renewal date and whether Auto Renewal was enabled. Mint’s terms generally do not provide refunds for unused service after the applicable refund period ends, except where required by law or specifically provided in the return policy.
Coverage and Network Performance
Mint Mobile uses T-Mobile’s domestic 4G LTE and 5G networks. Coverage and speed depend on location, device compatibility, network capacity, spectrum and local conditions.
Mint’s current network-management policy explains that network congestion can affect performance. Unlimited-plan customers who exceed the applicable high-speed-data threshold can also experience slower service during the remainder of the cycle under the plan terms.
Unlimited Plan Data and Hotspot
Mint’s current Unlimited plan includes a monthly high-speed-data threshold before customers may notice slower speeds during congestion. Current public materials also advertise up to 20GB of mobile hotspot usage on the Unlimited plan.
If your review concerns data performance, include the plan, approximate usage, time of day and whether the issue affected normal phone data, hotspot usage or both.
Video Streaming
Current Mint public offer terms state that video on the Unlimited plan is generally streamed at standard-definition quality. Other plan behavior can differ depending on device, network conditions and service settings.
If your review concerns video quality, distinguish between a speed problem and the normal video-management terms of the plan.
7-Day Money-Back Guarantee
Mint currently offers a 7-day money-back guarantee for full wireless plans purchased directly through mintmobile.com or the Mint Mobile app. Customers can request cancellation and a refund within seven calendar days after activation.
Mint says the refund includes the purchase price and associated taxes and fees, but shipping is not refunded. Purchases from third-party retailers are governed by the retailer’s own return policy.
Phone and SIM Returns
Phones, SIM kits and accessories purchased directly from Mint can generally be returned within seven calendar days after delivery, subject to Mint’s return-condition requirements.
Mint requires qualifying phone returns to be in like-new condition with the original packaging and accessories. Refunds for accepted returns are generally issued to the original payment method after processing, minus applicable shipping and handling.
Restocking and Return Conditions
Mint’s return policy allows restocking charges when a non-defective phone does not meet the stated like-new return criteria. The amount depends on the device’s full retail price.
Before returning a phone, remove passcodes, sign out of Apple/Google/Samsung accounts, factory reset the device and remove the SIM when applicable. Keep return authorization and tracking records until the refund is complete.
Device Unlock Policy
Mint’s current phone-unlock policy says phones purchased directly from Mint automatically unlock 60 days after activation when they meet the eligibility requirements.
The device must not be reported lost, stolen or associated with fraud. Deployed military customers can qualify for an exception. If an eligible device does not unlock automatically, contact Customer Care at 1-800-683-7392.
Number Transfers and Port-Outs
Customers transferring a number to Mint should keep the old carrier service active until the transfer completes. Likewise, customers leaving Mint should keep the Mint line active until the receiving carrier successfully finishes the port.
If your review concerns a number transfer, note whether the account number, transfer PIN or other carrier information was correct and whether Mint or the other carrier identified the reason for the delay.
Number Lock and SIM-Swap Protection
Mint’s Number Lock feature helps prevent unauthorized SIM changes. It can be turned on or off in the Mint Mobile app or online account.
When Number Lock is enabled, customers cannot activate a new SIM, order a replacement SIM or change phones until the feature is disabled. Mint can also automatically enable Number Lock when suspicious activity is detected.
Account Security
Mint uses account-verification steps to confirm customer identity for sensitive account actions. If Mint sends an alert about a login attempt that was not yours, changing the account password is a reasonable precaution.
If you lose your phone or suspect unauthorized activity, Mint’s current guidance directs customers to contact Customer Care at 1-800-683-7392.
Scam Screener
Mint includes Scam Screener, which can label suspected scam or spoofed calls as “Scam Likely” and can apply other call-category labels.
Scam Screener is a call-screening feature, not a guarantee that every fraudulent call will be detected. Customers should still avoid sharing passwords, security codes or payment information with unsolicited callers.
Auto Renewal and Plan Changes
Mint customers can manage Auto Renewal and future plan choices in the Mint app or online account. Customers can generally move to a higher data allowance during a current term, while moving to a lower data plan is handled at renewal.
The length of an active multi-month term generally cannot be changed mid-term. If your review concerns renewal, document the plan duration, renewal price and whether Auto Renewal was active.
Taxes and Fees
Mint advertises plan prices before applicable taxes and fees. Current promotional pages specifically state that taxes and fees are extra.
If your review concerns an unexpected total, compare the advertised base plan price with the final checkout or renewal amount, including taxes, recovery charges or shipping where applicable.
5G Home MINTernet
Mint now offers 5G Home MINTernet, a fixed wireless home Internet service powered by T-Mobile’s cellular network. It uses a self-install gateway and is available only where local network capacity supports the service.
A Mint phone plan is not required, but current Home MINTernet pricing can be lower when bundled with a Mint wireless plan. Plan durations are prepaid in multi-month terms.
Home MINTernet Speeds and Data
Current Home MINTernet broadband labels list typical download speeds in the roughly 133–415 Mbps range, with actual speeds varying because the service uses a cellular network.
Home MINTernet includes unlimited data, but current terms say customers who exceed 1TB in a month can experience slower speeds during congestion.
Home MINTernet Returns
Mint currently offers a 14-day money-back guarantee for Home MINTernet. Customers can return the gateway equipment within 14 days of delivery under the applicable return policy.
The gateway is loaned equipment and can be subject to a non-return fee if it is not sent back when required. Keep the return tracking information until the account and equipment status are fully resolved.
Home MINTernet Support
Mint currently lists 1-844-646-8638 for Home MINTernet help. Customers can also use online chat and the Home MINTernet Help Center.
If your review concerns Home MINTernet, identify whether the problem involved eligibility, gateway setup, speed, signal placement, billing, return or cancellation.
Ownership and Company Status
Mint Mobile is now part of the T-Mobile family. Mint continues to operate as a distinct prepaid consumer brand while using T-Mobile’s network.
Current Mint support and network-management pages explicitly describe Mint and T-Mobile as part of the same family.
