Overview

PNC reviews and complaints can help other consumers understand experiences involving PNC checking and savings accounts, Virtual Wallet, debit cards, credit cards, payments, wire transfers, fraud claims, disputes, account restrictions, loans and customer service. Share what happened, which PNC product you used, how you tried to resolve the issue and whether the outcome was satisfactory. Positive, neutral and negative experiences are welcome on ZeroStars’ −5 to +5 rating scale.

PNC uses different support channels for deposit accounts, cards, fraud, lending and other services. Phone numbers, hours, fees, eligibility, transfer limits and dispute procedures can vary by product and account agreement, so use the number on your card, statement or authenticated account when it provides a more specific route.

What to Include in Your PNC Review
  • Product: Virtual Wallet, checking, savings, debit card, credit card, mortgage, loan, wire transfer or another PNC service.
  • Issue: account hold, declined transaction, fraud claim, dispute, transfer delay, fee, payment posting, account closure or online-banking problem.
  • Timeline: approximate dates, number of calls or messages and how long the issue remained unresolved.
  • Support route: branch, phone, Online Banking, PNC Mobile app or written correspondence.
  • Resolution: what PNC said or did and whether funds, account access, disputed charges or other benefits were restored.

Do not post full account or card numbers, Social Security numbers, PINs, passwords, one-time passcodes, routing details tied to your personal account or unredacted financial documents.

Account Access and Holds

PNC may use identity verification, fraud controls or account restrictions when activity requires additional review. If an account or transaction is restricted, record the exact message, date, affected account, amount and any case or reference number. Ask whether the restriction applies to Online Banking, a debit or credit card, a transfer or the entire account relationship.

PNC’s deposit-account terms govern funds availability, deposit holds, electronic transfers and other account conditions. For a hold complaint, keep deposit receipts, mobile-deposit confirmations, transfer records and any written notices explaining when funds will become available.

Fraud and Unauthorized Transactions

PNC directs customers who believe they are victims of fraud or identity theft to contact a branch or call 1-888-762-2265. If you accidentally disclosed personal information to a suspicious message or want to report suspicious activity, PNC lists 1-800-762-2035.

If an unauthorized transaction has posted to a debit or credit card, PNC instructs customers to call 1-800-558-8472 promptly. Keep the date you discovered the transaction, whether the physical card remained in your possession, when you contacted PNC and any claim or provisional-credit information you receive.

PNC also publishes specific callback numbers that may be used by its fraud-verification systems. Do not rely on caller ID alone; when in doubt, end the call and contact PNC through a number from its official website, your card or your statement.

Debit and Credit Card Problems

PNC card complaints may involve declines, replacement cards, payments, rewards, credit limits, fraud blocks or account closures. PNC’s card-management tools allow eligible customers to lock or unlock a card, report it lost or stolen, request a replacement, activate a new card and manage other card functions through the PNC Mobile app or Online Banking.

If a card is lost or stolen, report it through the app, Online Banking, by phone or at a branch. PNC states that Easy Lock is not a substitute for reporting a genuinely lost or stolen card.

Disputes and Billing Errors

PNC allows eligible debit-card disputes to be started through Online Banking. Credit-card disputes can be initiated by calling PNC or visiting a branch. PNC lists 1-800-558-8472 for consumer card transaction errors or unauthorized activity.

For a credit-card billing error, PNC’s current consumer credit-card agreement instructs customers to write to PNC Bank, N.A., P.O. Box 1802, Dayton, OH 45401 and provide the account information, disputed amount and description of the problem. Follow the timing and documentation requirements in your current statement or agreement.

Keep receipts, merchant correspondence, cancellation or return confirmations and any PNC dispute reference numbers. Contacting the merchant first may sometimes resolve a transaction more quickly, but consumers should still protect any applicable dispute deadlines.

Transfers and Wire Transfers

PNC supports domestic and international wire transfers from eligible personal checking and savings accounts through Online Banking, the PNC Mobile app or a branch. PNC also offers international money-transfer options for eligible customers.

For domestic wires, PNC says customers need the recipient’s name, address, U.S. bank routing number and account number. International wires require recipient and bank information such as an IBAN or account number and SWIFT/BIC code. Always verify instructions directly with the recipient before sending funds.

Wire-transfer fees, exchange rates, delivery times, cutoffs and eligibility can vary. If a transfer is delayed or disputed, keep the confirmation number, recipient details used, amount, initiation date, expected arrival date and any status messages.

Fees and Account Closures

PNC fees vary by account, service and relationship. Checking and savings accounts can have account-specific maintenance, overdraft, wire, stop-payment or other service fees, while credit cards have separate annual-fee, APR and transaction terms where applicable.

If your complaint involves a fee or closure, identify the exact account, fee description or closure notice, the date it appeared and the explanation PNC provided. If a closure affects pending deposits, bill payments, transfers or rewards, document any deadlines and instructions you receive.

Mobile App and Online Banking

The PNC Mobile app and Online Banking support balance and transaction review, transfers, card controls, mobile deposits, bill pay and other account-management features. If a digital-access problem occurs, note whether it affects the website, app or both, the device and browser or app version, the approximate time and any error code.

Never provide passwords, PINs or one-time verification codes to an unsolicited caller or message sender. If you believe credentials were exposed, contact PNC through an official channel and change affected credentials promptly.

Checking, Savings and Virtual Wallet

PNC’s consumer deposit support covers checking, savings, Virtual Wallet, debit-card service, account setup, direct deposit, checks and digital banking. For general personal-account help, PNC lists 1-888-762-2265.

PNC notes that funds availability can depend on the deposit type and account circumstances. If your complaint concerns a mobile check deposit or other hold, keep the deposit confirmation and any notice showing the expected availability date.

Loans and Mortgages

PNC uses separate servicing channels for lending products. Mortgage customers can contact 1-800-822-5626. Payment addresses and payoff procedures differ for mortgages, auto loans, personal loans, home equity and lines of credit, so use the current loan statement or PNC’s product-specific servicing instructions.
