About Truist

Overview
Truist reviews and complaints can help other consumers understand experiences involving Truist checking and savings accounts, debit cards, credit cards, payments, wire transfers, Zelle, fraud claims, disputes, mortgages, loans and customer service. Share what happened, which Truist product you used, how you tried to resolve the issue and whether the outcome was satisfactory. Positive, neutral and negative experiences are welcome on ZeroStars’ −5 to +5 rating scale.
Truist uses a primary consumer-support number for many banking products while maintaining separate channels for digital banking, mortgages and certain specialized services. Fees, eligibility, limits, dispute rights and account features can vary by product and relationship, so use the number on your card, statement or authenticated account when it provides a more specific route.
What to Include in Your Truist Review
- Product: checking, savings, debit card, credit card, mortgage, loan, wire transfer, Zelle or another Truist service.
- Issue: account restriction, fraud claim, dispute, fee, transfer delay, payment posting, card decline, account closure or digital-access problem.
- Timeline: approximate dates, number of calls or secure messages and how long the issue remained unresolved.
- Support route: branch, phone, Truist Online Banking, Truist Mobile or written correspondence.
- Resolution: what Truist said or did and whether funds, account access, disputed charges or other benefits were restored.
Do not post full account or card numbers, Social Security numbers, PINs, passwords, one-time passcodes, routing details tied to your personal account or unredacted financial documents.
Account Access and Holds
Truist may use fraud controls, identity verification or other restrictions when an account or transaction requires additional review. If your account is locked or a transaction is restricted, document the exact message, date, affected account, amount and any case number. Ask whether the restriction applies to online access, a card, a transfer or the entire account relationship.
Funds availability can depend on the deposit type, timing and applicable hold rules. Cash and wire deposits may receive different availability treatment than checks, and check deposits made after a cutoff may not be available until a later banking day.
Fraud and Unauthorized Transactions
Truist tells customers to report fraud or suspicious transactions by calling 1-844-487-8478; fraud support is available 24/7. From outside the United States, use +1-910-914-8250.
Truist distinguishes fraud from merchant disputes. Fraud generally means a transaction or account use you did not authorize, while a dispute can involve a purchase you made but where the goods, services or amount were not as expected. Keep the date you noticed the activity, whether the card or device remained in your possession, when you contacted Truist and any claim or provisional-credit information.
Do not rely on caller ID alone. Truist warns that scammers can impersonate banks and advises customers to call back using a verified official number if they are uncertain whether a contact is legitimate.
Debit and Credit Card Problems
Truist’s primary consumer number, 1-844-487-8478, supports both debit and personal credit cards. Eligible customers can lock or unlock debit and credit cards through Truist online or mobile banking and can use card controls to restrict certain transaction types.
If a card is genuinely lost or stolen, report it rather than relying only on a temporary card lock. Card features, rewards, annual fees, APRs and transaction terms vary by product and cardmember agreement.
Disputes and Billing Errors
If you recognize a purchase but have a problem with the amount, merchandise or service, it may be handled as a dispute rather than a fraud claim. Keep receipts, cancellation or return evidence, merchant correspondence and the date you first contacted the merchant.
For credit-card billing errors, Truist’s current consumer card agreement instructs customers to write to Truist Bank, Card Services, P.O. Box 200, Wilson, NC 27893. The agreement states that written notice should identify the account, disputed amount and the reason you believe the statement is wrong, and it includes time limits for preserving billing-error rights.
Always confirm the address and instructions on your current statement or agreement before mailing a dispute.
Transfers, Wires and Zelle
Truist supports domestic wire transfers from eligible personal accounts, with availability and digital-wire eligibility depending on the customer relationship and account. Truist’s current fee schedule lists separate charges for incoming wires, teammate-assisted outgoing wires and eligible online outgoing wires, with fee waivers for some account tiers.
As of the current Truist personal deposit fee schedule, standard listed fees include $15 for an incoming domestic wire, $20 for an incoming international wire, $30 for a teammate-assisted outgoing domestic wire and $65 for a teammate-assisted outgoing international wire. Eligible online outgoing domestic wires are listed at $20. Relationship-based waivers and other conditions can apply.
Truist also participates in Zelle. For an error or question involving a Truist Zelle transfer, call 1-844-487-8478. Zelle is intended for payments to people and businesses you know and trust; purchase-protection rules differ from card transactions.
Fees and Account Closures
Truist fees vary by account and relationship level. Checking products may have account-specific ATM, wire, stop-payment, rush-card and other fees, while higher relationship tiers can receive waivers or reductions. Credit cards and lending products have separate pricing and terms.
If your complaint involves a fee or closure, identify the exact account, fee description or closure notice, when it appeared and the explanation Truist provided. If a closure affects pending deposits, transfers, bill payments, rewards or loan payments, document any deadlines and instructions you receive.
Mobile App and Online Banking
Truist Online Banking and the Truist Mobile app support balance and transaction review, transfers, card controls, alerts and other account functions. Truist lists 1-888-228-6654 for online and mobile banking support.
If a digital-access problem occurs, note whether it affects the website, app or both, the device and browser or app version, the approximate time and any error message. Never provide a one-time verification code to an unsolicited caller or message sender.
Checking and Savings Accounts
Truist uses 1-844-487-8478 for checking and savings support. Deposit-account features, monthly fees, overdraft policies, funds availability and wire pricing depend on the specific account and relationship tier.
For a missing deposit, hold or balance discrepancy, retain deposit receipts, transaction confirmations, statements and written notices. If a transaction is unauthorized, report it promptly so the issue can be handled under the applicable fraud and electronic-transfer procedures.
Loans and Mortgages
Personal-loan support is available through 1-844-487-8478. Truist mortgage customers can call 1-800-634-7928, Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–8 p.m. Eastern and Saturday 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Eastern.
Mortgage customers who believe there is a servicing error can also use Truist’s formal Notice of Error, Qualified Written Request or Request for Information process. Product-specific payment addresses and procedures should be taken from the current statement or servicing instructions.
