Account Access and Deposit Holds

Santander Bank may restrict or review account activity when security, identity-verification, fraud, legal or account-risk concerns require additional review. If an account or transaction is restricted, document the exact message, date, amount and any case number.

Funds availability depends on the deposit type and Santander Bank’s current deposit agreement. If a check, mobile deposit or transfer is held longer than expected, keep the deposit confirmation, amount, date and any notice showing when the funds are scheduled to become available.

Fraud and Unauthorized Transactions

Santander’s current Security Center lists 877-906-7500 for customers who believe they are victims of fraud. Suspicious emails, texts or calls can also be reported to reportabuse@Santander.us.

For an unauthorized debit-card or ATM transaction, Santander directs customers to contact a Customer Service Center Advisor immediately at 877-768-2265. Its current deposit agreement also uses that number for lost or stolen cards, PINs and unauthorized electronic transactions.

Keep the date you discovered the activity, transaction amount, whether the card remained in your possession, when you contacted Santander and any claim or provisional-credit information you receive.

Debit and Credit Card Problems

If a Santander debit card is permanently lost or stolen, call 877-768-2265 immediately. Santander also provides an Instant Card Hold feature in Online Banking and the mobile app for a temporarily misplaced card, plus digital replacement-card tools.

Consumer credit-card servicing may use the phone number on the back of the card or the current monthly statement. Santander also accepts credit-card questions through the main Customer Service Center at 877-768-2265.

Card complaints may involve declined transactions, fraud, payment posting, billing errors, replacement cards, rewards or promotional terms. The applicable cardholder agreement and current statement control formal billing-error rights.

Disputes and Billing Errors

For debit-card and ATM transaction claims, Santander directs customers to 877-768-2265. For digital-banking transaction errors, Santander’s current Digital Banking Agreement says the bank generally must hear from the customer no later than 60 days after sending the first statement on which the problem appeared.

Digital-banking error notices can be sent to Santander, Attention: Digital Banking, P.O. Box 12646, Reading, PA 19612. If you report an error verbally, Santander may require written confirmation within 10 business days.

For credit-card billing disputes, follow the instructions on the current statement or cardholder agreement. Keep receipts, merchant correspondence, cancellation or return records and any Santander claim number.

Transfers and Wire Transfers

Santander Bank supports transfers among eligible Santander accounts and linked external accounts, plus domestic and international wire transfers. Santander Select accounts currently receive reduced or waived wire charges in some cases. Current disclosures for your specific account control because pricing and relationship benefits can change.

Wire transfers can be difficult to recover once released. Verify beneficiary information carefully and keep the date, amount, receiving-bank information and confirmation number if a wire becomes part of a complaint.

Overdrafts and Account Fees

Santander’s current overdraft policy includes a $100 Safety Net. If Santander pays a transaction that causes the account balance to be overdrawn by $100 or less, it currently does not assess an insufficient-funds item-paid fee for that transaction.

When the overdraft exceeds the Safety Net, Santander’s current personal fee schedule lists a $15 Insufficient Funds Fee – Item Paid, with a maximum of three such fees per business day. Santander currently charges $0 for returned insufficient-funds items and $0 for Overdraft Protection transfers.

A current $15 Sustained Overdraft Fee may apply when an account remains overdrawn for five consecutive business days and the first-day overdrawn balance was more than $100. Account-specific disclosures control.
