Overview
TD Bank reviews and complaints can help other consumers understand experiences involving checking and savings accounts, debit cards, credit cards, overdrafts, Zelle, bank transfers, wire transfers, mortgages, personal loans, fraud claims, disputes and customer service. Share what happened, which TD Bank product you used, how you tried to resolve the issue and whether the outcome was satisfactory. Positive, neutral and negative experiences are welcome on ZeroStars’ −5 to +5 rating scale.
This page covers TD Bank’s U.S. consumer banking operations. TD Bank uses different support channels for deposit accounts, fraud, credit cards, mortgages, home equity and other services. Terms, fees, eligibility, transaction limits and dispute procedures vary by product and account agreement, so use the route tied to your specific account whenever possible.
What to Include in Your TD Bank Review
- Product: checking, savings, debit card, credit card, mortgage, home equity, personal loan, Zelle, wire transfer or another TD Bank service.
- Issue: account hold, fraud claim, card dispute, overdraft, transfer delay, deposit availability, fee, account closure or digital-access problem.
- Timeline: approximate dates, number of calls or branch visits and how long the issue remained unresolved.
- Support route: branch, phone, TD Bank app, Online Banking, secure message or written correspondence.
- Resolution: what TD Bank said or did and whether funds, account access, disputed charges or loan issues were resolved.
Do not post full account or card numbers, Social Security numbers, passwords, PINs, one-time passcodes, routing details tied to your personal account or unredacted financial documents.
Account Access and Holds
TD Bank may restrict account access or delay transactions when security, identity-verification, fraud, legal or account-review concerns require additional attention. If an account or transaction is restricted, record the exact message, date, affected account, amount and any case or reference number.
Deposit availability depends on the type of deposit, account history, timing and TD Bank’s Funds Availability Policy. TD states that mobile deposit funds are often available the next business day, but other holds can apply. Keep deposit receipts, mobile-deposit confirmations and any hold notices if availability becomes part of a complaint.
Fraud and Unauthorized Transactions
TD Bank lists 1-800-893-8554 for reporting fraud, available 24/7. A lost or stolen TD Bank Visa debit card can be reported at 1-888-751-9000; credit-card fraud or a lost or stolen TD Bank credit card can be reported at 1-888-561-8861.
TD Bank also allows customers to lock eligible debit and credit cards through the TD Bank app, and debit cards can be locked through Online Banking. A temporary lock is useful when a card is misplaced, but a card believed to be stolen or compromised should be formally reported.
Keep the date you discovered the unauthorized activity, whether the physical card remained in your possession, when you contacted TD Bank and any dispute, provisional-credit or replacement-card information you receive.
Debit and Credit Card Problems
TD Bank debit-card complaints may involve declined purchases, ATM withdrawals, replacement cards, fraud blocks, pending transactions or merchant disputes. For debit-card customer service, call 1-888-751-9000.
TD Bank credit cards have separate 24/7 support at 1-888-561-8861. Interest rates, annual fees, rewards, payment terms and billing-error rights vary by card product and account agreement.
If your card is lost, stolen or damaged, TD Bank offers replacement options through customer service and, for eligible debit cards, through digital banking.
Disputes and Billing Errors
TD Bank maintains separate dispute procedures for debit-card and credit-card transactions. Its Help Center provides guidance for transactions that are unrecognized, incorrect or fraudulent.
For a debit-card dispute, begin by reviewing the transaction in Online Banking or the TD Bank app and contact TD Bank at 1-888-751-9000 when additional help is needed. For a TD Bank credit-card dispute, use 1-888-561-8861 or the dispute instructions on your statement.
Keep receipts, merchant correspondence, cancellation or return records and any TD Bank case number. Formal credit-card billing rights can depend on written notice and specific deadlines, so follow the current card agreement and statement.
Transfers, Wires and Zelle
TD Bank supports internal and external account transfers through Online Banking and the TD Bank app for eligible accounts. TD currently states that standard internal and external transfers are free, subject to account eligibility and transaction rules.
Send Money with Zelle is available for most eligible personal checking and money market accounts. Transactions between enrolled users typically occur within minutes, but transaction limits apply. Only send money to people or businesses you know and trust.
Personal domestic and international wire transfers are handled through TD Bank locations. TD’s current foreign-exchange guidance directs personal customers to book an appointment at a TD Bank location to send a wire. Fees, exchange rates, intermediary-bank charges and delivery times can vary.
Overdrafts and Account Fees
TD Bank’s current Overdraft Relief program generally does not charge an overdraft fee when a personal checking account is overdrawn by $50 or less. If an account is overdrawn by more than $50, TD’s Grace Period can allow the customer until 11 p.m. Eastern the next business day to bring the available balance back to at least $0 and receive a refund of qualifying overdraft fees.
For checking accounts covered by Standard Overdraft Service, TD currently lists a $35 overdraft fee for qualifying transactions that overdraw the available balance by more than $50, with a maximum of three overdraft fees per day per account. Some accounts, including TD Essential Banking, use different overdraft treatment.
Monthly maintenance fees, ATM charges, stop-payment fees and other costs vary by account type. Review the current account guide and fee schedule for the product involved in your complaint.
Checking and Savings Accounts
TD Bank offers personal checking, savings, money market and certificate of deposit products. Account fees, minimum-balance requirements, APYs and waiver conditions vary by product and can change.
TD Bank, N.A. is a Member FDIC institution. Eligible deposits are insured subject to standard FDIC ownership-category limits.
If your complaint concerns a missing deposit, direct deposit, mobile check deposit, account fee or balance discrepancy, keep account statements, transaction confirmations and any notices describing availability or adjustments.
Mobile App and Online Banking
TD Bank Online Banking and the TD Bank app support balances, transfers, Bill Pay, Zelle, mobile deposit, card controls, statements, alerts and other account functions. Live customer service is available 24/7 at 1-888-751-9000.
If a digital-access problem occurs, note whether it affects the app, website or both, the device and browser or app version, the approximate time and any error message. Never share one-time security codes or account passwords with an unsolicited caller.
Mortgages, Home Equity and Personal Loans
TD Bank uses separate support channels for lending products. Mortgage customers can call 1-866-325-4516, home-equity customers can call 1-800-815-6849, and TD Fit Loan customers can call 1-877-300-4020.
Loan rates, fees, payment addresses, servicing rules and hardship options depend on the individual product and agreement. For a servicing complaint, retain payment confirmations, statements, escrow notices and any correspondence from TD Bank.
