Overview
GE Appliances reviews and complaints cover refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges, ovens and the support owners receive after purchase. Share what worked well, what could have been better and how any problem was resolved. Positive, neutral and negative firsthand experiences are welcome on ZeroStars’ −5 to +5 scale, including 0.
This guide focuses on U.S. GE and GE Profile household appliances and GE Appliances customer service. Browse the Appliances category or compare owner experiences with Whirlpool and LG.
GE Appliances, GE Profile and Bodewell Explained
GE Appliances is part of Haier Smart Home. Its appliance business should not be confused with other businesses that use the GE name. GE Profile products are supported through GE Appliances, while related brands such as Café, Monogram, Haier and Hotpoint should be identified by their own brand and model when seeking help.
Bodewell is GE Appliances’ service brand, formerly known as GE Factory Service. A Bodewell repair appointment and a Bodewell Care protection-plan claim are different routes. GE Appliances identifies Assurant as the provider of Bodewell Care protection. Follow the administrator and terms shown on your actual contract.
A retailer return, manufacturer warranty, paid repair and installation complaint can also involve different companies. Shared ownership or branding does not mean one representative can authorize every remedy.
What Makes a Useful GE Appliances Review?
Explain the product and outcome rather than rating every appliance under the GE name as though it were the same model. Readers can learn from reliable everyday use, a successful repair, a mixed service experience or an unresolved failure.
- Refrigeration: Describe cooling, ice production, noise, storage and the result of any service visit.
- Laundry: Include cleaning or drying results, cycle times, vibration, maintenance and installation conditions.
- Dishwashers and cooking: Discuss cleaning, drying, temperature consistency, controls and usability.
- Connected features: Identify the model and explain whether your experience concerns the appliance itself or a connected feature.
- Service: Describe appointment attendance, diagnosis, parts delays, communication, charges and final resolution.
Include the approximate purchase date, seller, model, warranty status and number of visits. Do not post your full serial number, home address, phone number, private case number or unredacted receipt. A rating of 0 is valid for a neutral experience; successful ownership and helpful customer service deserve space alongside complaints.
Registration, Manuals and Warranty Coverage
GE Appliances allows online registration through a guest route or an account. Creating an account allows you to view registered appliances later. Use the official registration instructions to reach the appropriate form. Keep the sales receipt and delivery paperwork even after registering.
Enter the complete model number in the manuals search to retrieve operating instructions, installation requirements and the warranty. Model-specific documents matter more than a general statement about the GE brand.
GE Appliances says its initial manufacturer warranty is typically one year, with longer coverage for certain parts on some models. Its warranty-start guidance uses the purchase date and explains how proof of purchase, a builder’s letter or proof of occupancy can establish that date. Without proof, the manufacturing date may be used.
Confirm the covered defect, parts, labor, start date and service procedure in your model’s warranty. Do not assume extended component coverage pays every repair expense.
Costco purchases: GE Appliances publishes a specific Costco-member warranty extension: the portion that normally lasts one year is extended to two years for qualifying purchases through Costco. Other terms remain unchanged, and already-longer component warranties retain their stated duration. Keep proof of purchase and confirm applicability. This manufacturer extension is separate from Costco’s retail return process.
Warranty Exclusions and Installation Problems
GE Appliances’ installation and warranty guidance states that improper installation and installer-caused damage are not covered by the original product warranty. A service visit can be chargeable when the diagnosis concerns installation or inadequate household wiring or other site conditions.
Its refrigerator warranty-exclusion guidance also identifies misuse, commercial use, instruction-only visits, spoiled food, household fuses or breakers and certain accidental or consequential damage. Check your appliance’s actual warranty rather than applying every refrigerator exclusion to every product.
If coverage is denied, ask for the technician’s findings and the exact warranty provision relied on. Keep photographs and invoices. If a seller or contractor arranged an incorrect installation, contact that company about correcting its work separately from the manufacturer-defect claim.
Authorized Repairs, Parts and Protection Plans
Start with the official service page for a Bodewell appointment or the appropriate product-specific support route. GE Appliances lists 833-426-3393 for Bodewell major-appliance service. Confirm local availability and whether the visit is covered before authorizing work.
Some small appliances have an exchange process rather than in-home repair. Opal ice makers have a dedicated support option on the service page. Avoid booking a standard major-appliance visit for a product that uses a different remedy.
For a paid repair, request the diagnostic fee, estimate, parts availability and written repair guarantee. GE Appliances’ service pages display differing repair-part warranty descriptions, so confirm the terms on the actual quote or invoice instead of assuming a single guarantee applies to every repair provider.
Use the complete model number when ordering through GE Appliances Parts & Accessories. Ask whether an item is the correct replacement and check its return eligibility before ordering or installing it.
For an extended plan, follow the contract’s claims instructions. The contact directory separates older Service Protection Advantage plans from Bodewell Care plans. The warranty and service-plan guide identifies Assurant-provided Bodewell Care coverage and links to its claim scheduling. Retailer plans and home warranties may use different administrators.
GEAppliances.com Returns and Retailer Purchases
The direct-purchase large-appliance return policy tells customers who bought from a retailer to contact that retailer. Do not apply the website’s return window to an appliance purchased at Home Depot, Costco or another store.
For eligible direct purchases, the policy permits returns within seven days after delivery without restocking or pickup fees; delivery and installation service charges are not refunded. Requests after seven days but less than 30 days after delivery incur a 25% restocking fee plus pickup charges. Returned products must be in resellable condition.
The page directs customers past the return period toward warranty repair rather than a routine return. Contact order support at 1-800-430-1757 for authorization and clarification of deadline eligibility. Obtain the return authorization number before pickup and retain the collection record.
Delivery, Installation and Haul-Away
For direct orders, the official delivery and installation guide describes authorized agents unpacking, inspecting, positioning and connecting eligible appliances to suitable existing utilities. Availability and services vary by location and the options offered for your order.
Delivery agents are not authorized to perform carpentry, plumbing or electrical work. Verify the required outlets, water supply, shutoff valves, venting and access clearances in advance. Confirm installation kits, old-appliance removal and any fees on the order.
Inspect the appliance and surrounding area during delivery. Photograph damage, note missing items and report problems promptly to the company that sold and arranged delivery of the appliance. A retailer’s crew or independently hired installer should be identified separately in your review.
Recalls and Product Safety Notices
Consult the GE Appliances recall directory using your appliance’s exact model and serial number. The directory includes notices for specific cooktops, refrigerators, ranges and other products. A notice affecting one model does not establish that all GE appliances have that defect.
Open the matching notice and follow its instructions for eligibility, safe use and the remedy. Keep recall case information separate from an ordinary warranty claim. Do not assume a safety recall is unavailable simply because the original warranty has expired.
How to Escalate a GE Appliances Complaint
- Gather the purchase record, model and serial number, case reference, repair dates, invoices and a short description of the unresolved problem.
- Ask the service provider for its diagnosis and next step. For a parts delay, request the part number and an estimated update date.
- Contact GE Appliances through its official contact form or telephone route. Ask for supervisor or Consumer Relations review if previous attempts have not resolved the issue.
- Send a concise written timeline to the published Consumer Relations mailing address if needed. State the remedy you are requesting and ask for a written response; a request does not guarantee replacement or reimbursement.
- For a retailer return, installation claim or extended-plan dispute, contact the responsible company or administrator separately.
