Overview
Toyota reviews and complaints can help other drivers understand a vehicle, dealership, warranty, repair, financing, roadside-assistance or connected-service experience. Share what happened, which Toyota model or service you used and whether the issue was resolved. Positive, neutral and negative experiences are welcome on ZeroStars’ −5 to +5 rating scale.
Toyota sells cars, trucks, SUVs, hybrids, plug-in hybrids and battery-electric vehicles in the United States and supports owners through Toyota dealers, the Toyota Brand Engagement Center, Toyota Financial Services, ToyotaCare and My Toyota. The editorial information below summarizes selected official support, warranty, recall and ownership information; it is separate from customer reviews and does not represent a survey of Toyota owners.
What to Include in Your Toyota Review
A useful Toyota review gives enough detail for another consumer to understand the experience without exposing personal information:
- Vehicle: model, model year, trim or powertrain and approximate mileage.
- Dealer or service location: dealership name and city or state.
- What happened: sales issue, repair concern, warranty decision, recall, financing problem, roadside event or app/connected-service issue.
- Timeline: approximate dates, number of visits and how long the vehicle was unavailable.
- Resolution: what the dealer or Toyota offered and whether the issue was corrected.
Choose the rating that reflects your own experience. A rating of 0 is valid. Do not post your full VIN, loan number, account credentials, license plate, home address, phone number or unredacted service documents.
Warranty and Repair Concerns
Toyota’s current warranty information lists 36 months/36,000 miles of Basic Coverage and 60 months/60,000 miles of Powertrain Coverage, subject to the applicable Warranty & Maintenance Guide and whichever limit comes first. Toyota also lists 60 months/unlimited miles of rust-through coverage. Emissions and electrified-vehicle coverage can differ.
For Toyota hybrid vehicles beginning with model year 2020, Toyota says the hybrid battery is covered for 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first, subject to the New Vehicle Limited Warranty terms. Other hybrid components may have different coverage periods. Check the warranty guide for your exact model and model year before assuming a repair is covered.
If you dispute a warranty decision, ask the dealer to identify the warranty provision being applied and request a written repair order showing the complaint, diagnosis, parts replaced and final disposition. Keep every repair order, including visits where no repair was completed.
Recalls and Service Campaigns
Toyota provides a VIN and license-plate recall lookup for open safety recalls and service campaigns. Toyota distinguishes among Safety Recall Campaigns, Special Service Campaigns and Limited Service Campaigns.
Toyota says safety-recall inspections or repairs are performed at no charge to the vehicle owner. Special Service Campaigns are generally customer-satisfaction programs offered without an expiration date, while Limited Service Campaigns can have a specified eligibility period. If your review involves a campaign, identify the campaign number, when you contacted the dealer, whether parts were available and whether the repair was completed.
ToyotaCare and Roadside Assistance
ToyotaCare terms can vary by vehicle and model year. Toyota’s current materials state that model-year 2026 and earlier vehicles generally include normal factory-scheduled maintenance for 2 years or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first. Toyota’s newer materials describe different maintenance terms for many model-year 2027 vehicles, so verify the plan attached to your specific vehicle.
Toyota lists 1-800-444-4195 for Roadside Assistance. Current ToyotaCare materials describe 24-hour roadside assistance and include services such as battery jump-starts, lockout protection, tire service, towing and winching, subject to program limits. Coverage length can differ for certain models and model years.
If your complaint involves roadside assistance, record the request time, location, estimated arrival time, service performed and any charge you were asked to approve.
Toyota Financial Services: Payments, Loans and Leases
Toyota Financial Services handles many Toyota loans, leases and protection products. Its U.S. customer service number is 1-800-874-8822. TFS provides online account tools for payments, account details and lease information.
If your issue involves a payment, payoff or lease, keep the payment confirmation, date, amount and any written account status or payoff quote. Toyota Financial Services is separate from an independently owned Toyota dealership, so explain which organization handled each part of the dispute.
Dealer Sales and Service Issues
Toyota dealerships are generally independently operated businesses. A vehicle purchase, trade-in, repair or warranty experience may therefore involve both the dealership and Toyota Motor Sales.
For a sales concern, keep the buyer’s order, advertised offer, financing or lease documents and any written promises. For a repair concern, keep each repair order and note whether the same symptom returned. If you contact Toyota corporate support, save the case number and record the outcome.
Toyota App and Connected Services
The Toyota app and My Toyota can provide access to vehicle information, service scheduling and eligible Connected Services. Available features depend on the vehicle, trim, model year, account status and subscription.
If your complaint involves the app or a connected feature, record the vehicle, software or app version when possible, the date the issue began and whether the feature worked through another device or account. For subscription concerns, save the trial, renewal or cancellation information shown in your account.
Service Scheduling and Maintenance Records
Toyota’s owner site allows customers to schedule service with participating Toyota dealers and access vehicle-specific ownership resources. Dealer availability, diagnosis and appointment timing can vary by location.
When reviewing a maintenance or repair experience, include the service requested, the dealer’s diagnosis, the estimate, whether additional work was recommended and whether the final invoice matched what you authorized.
