Overview

GMC reviews and complaints can help other drivers understand a truck, SUV, dealership, warranty, repair, financing, roadside-assistance or connected-service experience. Share what happened, which GMC model or service you used and whether the issue was resolved. Positive, neutral and negative experiences are welcome on ZeroStars’ −5 to +5 rating scale.

GMC sells trucks, SUVs and electric vehicles in the United States and supports owners through GMC dealers, the GMC Customer Assistance Center, GMC Roadside Assistance, the myGMC app, OnStar and GM Financial. The editorial information below summarizes selected official support, warranty, recall and ownership information; it is separate from customer reviews and does not represent a survey of GMC owners.

What to Include in Your GMC Review

A useful GMC review gives enough detail for another consumer to understand the experience without exposing personal information:

  • Vehicle: model, model year, trim, engine or electric powertrain and approximate mileage.
  • Dealer or service location: dealership name and city or state.
  • What happened: sales issue, repair concern, warranty decision, recall, financing problem, roadside event or connected-service issue.
  • Timeline: approximate dates, number of visits and how long the vehicle was unavailable.
  • Resolution: what the dealer, GMC or GM Financial offered and whether the issue was corrected.

Choose the rating that reflects your own experience. A rating of 0 is valid. Do not post your full VIN, finance account number, OnStar credentials, license plate, home address, phone number or unredacted service documents.

Warranty and Repair Concerns

GMC’s current warranty information lists a 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper New Vehicle Limited Warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile transferable Powertrain Limited Warranty for many new GMC vehicles, subject to the applicable warranty booklet, exclusions and whichever limit comes first.

Some heavy-duty diesel and fleet vehicles have different powertrain terms. GMC also lists separate corrosion, emissions and electric-vehicle coverage. For eligible GMC EVs, current GMC materials list 8 years or 100,000 miles of battery and electric-component coverage, subject to model-specific limited-warranty terms.

If you dispute a warranty decision, ask the dealer to identify the warranty provision being applied and request a written repair order showing the complaint, diagnosis, parts replaced and final disposition. Keep every repair order, including visits where no repair was completed.

Recalls and Safety Campaigns

GMC provides recall information through GMC Support and the owner account. GMC says recall work is covered at no charge when completed at a GM dealer. Owners can check their specific vehicle for open recall information using their VIN.

If your review involves a recall or campaign, include the recall number if you know it, when you contacted the dealer, whether parts or software were available, how long the repair took and whether the remedy was completed. Avoid posting your full VIN publicly.

GMC Sierra 1500 Grille-Deflector Investigation: October 2026

Update October 13, 2026: NHTSA opened Recall Query RQ26003 on October 9 to examine whether the scope and repair from earlier GMC Sierra upper-grille-deflector recall 25V-060 were sufficient. The investigation covers 2022–2024 GMC Sierra 1500 trucks, but it is not a newly expanded recall of every 2022–2024 Sierra and is not a finding that each vehicle is defective.

Quick answer: The agency’s opening summary cites 118 complaints alleging upper-grille-deflector detachment, including 21 allegations of detachment after the earlier recall repair. These are NHTSA-reported allegations, not a count of firsthand ZeroStars reviews or verified failures on every vehicle.

Which vehicles are involved? The older GM recall 25V-060 dealer bulletin (PDF) applies to certain 2022 Sierra 1500 trucks with chrome upper-grille deflectors. Its remedy describes reinforcement/repair of attachment points, with replacement where specified by dealer inspection. The newer inquiry also examines allegations involving 2023 and 2024 model-year vehicles. A model year named in an investigation does not automatically make every truck eligible for the prior recall remedy.

Check NHTSA’s official VIN-based recall lookup and your repair records, then contact an authorized GMC dealer or GMC Customer Assistance at 800-462-8782. A previously completed recall may not show as an open recall; ask a dealer to review the service history.

What if the grille deflector detached after recall work?

Save the original repair order and recall-completion date, subsequent inspection and repair orders, photos, approximate mileage, and a timeline of the occurrence. Ask the dealer for a written diagnosis and GMC for a case number. Report a continuing safety concern through NHTSA’s safety-complaint process. Do not post a full VIN or unredacted repair records in a public review. There is no confirmed new free remedy for every 2023–2024 owner based on the opening of RQ26003 alone.

Source and review note: The agency-authored RQ26003 opening summary (PDF) was reviewed from a publisher-hosted mirror; the older GM recall bulletin is hosted by NHTSA. This investigation update was checked October 13, 2026 and should be reviewed again around October 20.

Roadside Assistance

GMC lists 1-888-881-3302 for standard Roadside Assistance and 1-844-515-1418 for EV Roadside Assistance. GMC says specially trained advisors are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Services can include towing to the nearest GMC dealer, vehicle-unlock service, flat-tire assistance, battery jump-start and emergency fuel delivery, subject to program terms. GMC currently states that Roadside Assistance is included for 5 years or 60,000 miles on eligible 2016-and-newer passenger vehicles, light-duty trucks and EVs. EV tow coverage can extend to 8 years or 100,000 miles.

If your complaint involves roadside assistance, document the request time, location, estimated arrival time, towing destination and any charge you were asked to approve.

GM Financial: Payments, Loans and Leases

GM Financial handles financing and leasing for many GMC customers. Its current Customer Experience number is 1-800-284-2271. GM Financial currently lists phone support hours of Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–6 p.m. Central, and Saturday, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Central.

Existing customers can use MyAccount to make payments, view notices, manage account information and send secure messages. If your complaint involves a payment, payoff or lease, keep the payment confirmation, date, amount and any written account status or payoff quote. Distinguish between the GMC dealer and GM Financial when describing who handled each part of the issue.

Dealer Sales and Service Issues

A GMC purchase, trade-in, repair or warranty experience may involve both an independently operated GMC dealer and General Motors. In a review, distinguish between what the dealer said or did and what GMC or GM support said or did.

For a sales concern, keep the buyer’s order, advertised offer, financing or lease documents and any written promises. For repairs, keep each repair order and note whether the same symptom returned. If you escalate a concern to GMC, save the case or reference number and record the outcome.

myGMC App, OnStar and Connected Services

The myGMC app can provide eligible remote vehicle functions, vehicle information, service scheduling and connected features. OnStar plans can provide safety, security, navigation and roadside features depending on the vehicle and active plan.

If your complaint involves the myGMC app or an OnStar/Connected Services feature, record the vehicle, app or software version when possible, the date the issue began and whether the feature worked through another device or account.

Electric Vehicle Warranty and Charging

GMC’s current EV materials state that propulsion battery packs on eligible HUMMER EV and Sierra EV models are covered by a limited warranty for 8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. GMC says the limited warranty also addresses certain battery-capacity loss below the stated threshold during the warranty period, subject to dealer determination and the applicable terms.

For an EV charging complaint, note whether the issue occurred at home or at a public charger, the charger type, any error message, the approximate battery state of charge and whether the vehicle charged normally elsewhere. That detail can help readers understand whether the issue appeared specific to the vehicle, charger or location.

Service Scheduling and Maintenance Records

GMC Support and participating dealers provide access to owner manuals, service information, warranty status, recall information and service scheduling. Dealer appointment availability, diagnosis and repair timing can vary by location.

When reviewing a maintenance or repair experience, include the service requested, the dealer’s diagnosis, the estimate, whether additional work was recommended and whether the final invoice matched what you authorized.
