Overview

Regions Bank reviews and complaints can help other consumers understand experiences involving checking and savings accounts, debit cards, credit cards, mobile deposits, wire transfers, mortgages, personal loans, fraud claims, transaction disputes, overdrafts, digital banking and customer service. Share what happened, which Regions product you used, how you tried to resolve the issue and whether the outcome was satisfactory. Positive, neutral and negative experiences are welcome on ZeroStars’ −5 to +5 rating scale.

This page covers Regions Bank consumer banking in the United States. Regions uses separate servicing routes for deposit accounts, debit cards, credit cards, mortgages and other lending products. Terms, fees, eligibility, transaction limits and dispute procedures vary by product and account agreement, so use the route tied to your specific account whenever possible.

What to Include in Your Regions Bank Review
  • Product: checking, savings, debit card, credit card, mortgage, home equity, personal loan, mobile deposit, wire transfer or another Regions service.
  • Issue: account hold, fraud claim, card dispute, transfer delay, overdraft, deposit availability, fee, account closure or digital-access problem.
  • Timeline: approximate dates, support contacts and how long the issue remained unresolved.
  • Support route: phone, branch, Regions app, Online Banking, secure message or written correspondence.
  • Resolution: what Regions said or did and whether funds, account access, disputed charges or loan issues were resolved.

Do not post full account or card numbers, Social Security numbers, passwords, PINs, one-time security codes, routing details tied to your personal account or unredacted financial documents.

Account Access and Deposit Holds

Regions may place a hold on a deposited check when permitted by its Deposit Agreement and federal funds-availability rules. Regions currently says it typically makes all or part of a deposited check available on the first business day, but some checks may not be available until the second business day or may receive a longer hold.

Longer holds can occur for reasons including new accounts, unusually large aggregate check deposits, repeated overdrafts, redeposited returned checks, concerns that a check will not be paid, or emergencies affecting processing. If a hold is placed, Regions says it will notify the customer of the availability date.

Fraud and Unauthorized Transactions

If you believe you are the victim of online-banking fraud or a scam, Regions directs customers to call 1-800-734-4667 immediately. Suspicious emails can also be forwarded to phishing@regions.com.

For a lost or stolen debit card, call 1-800-295-8472. For a lost or stolen credit card or a disputed credit-card transaction, call 1-800-253-2265.

Keep the date you discovered the activity, transaction amount, whether the card remained in your possession, when you contacted Regions and any claim, provisional-credit or replacement-card information you receive.

Debit and Credit Card Problems

Regions debit-card complaints may involve declined transactions, ATM withdrawals, replacement cards, fraud blocks, merchant disputes or card controls. Lost or stolen debit cards can be reported and replaced through Online Banking, the Regions Mobile app or by calling 1-800-295-8472.

Regions credit-card customer service is available at 1-800-253-2265. The same number is used for a lost or stolen Regions credit card and for credit-card transaction disputes.

Credit-card rates, fees, rewards and billing-error rights depend on the specific card agreement and current statement.

Disputes and Billing Errors

Regions allows eligible card disputes to be started through Online Banking. For debit-card or other deposit-account transaction claims, customers can also call 1-800-734-4667 or visit a branch.

Credit-card claims can be filed by phone at 1-800-253-2265 or at a branch. Written credit-card billing disputes should be sent to the billing-error address shown on the back of the current statement.

Keep receipts, merchant correspondence, cancellation or return records and any Regions claim number. Formal billing-error rights can depend on specific notice deadlines in the applicable card or deposit agreement.

Transfers, Wires and Zelle

Regions supports domestic and international wire transfers for eligible customers. Regions publishes separate routing information for domestic and international incoming wires and directs customers to its current Personal Pricing Schedule for applicable wire fees.

Because wire transfers are difficult to reverse, verify recipient instructions carefully before sending funds. If a complaint involves a wire, keep the date, amount, beneficiary details, confirmation number and any Regions correspondence.

Regions also supports Zelle for eligible checking and savings accounts. Regions warns that once a Zelle payment has been sent, it may not be possible to reverse or recover the funds, so only send money to people or businesses you know and trust.

Overdrafts and Account Fees

Regions currently lists a $36 Paid Overdraft Item fee for qualifying items, subject to change. For personal and small-business accounts, Regions says it charges no more than three Paid Overdraft Item fees per day.

Regions currently does not charge a Paid Overdraft Item fee when a personal or small-business account is overdrawn by $5 or less after end-of-day processing. Its Overdraft Grace program can also give eligible personal checking customers until 8 p.m. Central the next business day to bring the available balance to at least negative $5 and avoid qualifying overdraft fees.

Some accounts, including Regions Now Checking and other specialty products, use different overdraft rules. Monthly maintenance fees and waiver conditions also vary by account.

Checking, Savings and CDs

Regions offers multiple personal checking, savings, money market and certificate products. Regions Bank is an FDIC-insured institution, and eligible deposits are insured subject to standard ownership-category limits.

Account monthly fees, balance requirements, direct-deposit waivers and rates vary by product. Current examples include LifeGreen Checking, LifeGreen Preferred Checking, Regions Now Checking and LifeGreen Savings, each with different fee structures.

If your complaint involves a deposit hold, direct deposit, ACH transfer, mobile deposit or account fee, keep statements, deposit confirmations and any notice explaining availability or account status.

Mobile Deposit

Regions Mobile Deposit currently offers an “Available for Processing Tonight” option at no charge for eligible deposits made before the applicable cutoff, and an “Available Immediately” option for a fee of 1% to 4% of the check amount, depending on check type and amount, with a $5 minimum fee.

Regions says most customers currently have mobile-deposit limits of $6,000 per day and $10,000 per month, while some Preferred Banking customers receive higher limits. Individual limits shown in the app control.

Funds availability can still be delayed for fraud, account-status or risk reasons even when an availability option is selected.

Mobile App and Online Banking

Regions Online Banking and the Regions Mobile app support balances, transfers, bill pay, Zelle, mobile deposit, card controls, alerts and other account functions. Online Banking support is available at 1-800-472-2265.

If a digital-access problem occurs, note whether it affects the app, website or both, the device and browser or app version, the approximate time and any error message. Never provide passwords, PINs or one-time security codes to an unsolicited caller.

Mortgages, Home Equity and Other Loans

Regions mortgage customer service is available at 1-800-986-2462. Current live-representative mortgage hours are Monday–Thursday 7:30 a.m.–8 p.m. Central, Friday 7:30 a.m.–6 p.m. Central and Saturday 8 a.m.–noon Central. Automated mortgage payment service is available 24/7.

New mortgage inquiries use 1-877-536-3286. Home equity loans and lines also use 1-800-986-2462, while other loan servicing uses 1-800-231-7493.

If you are having difficulty making a mortgage, credit-card or personal-loan payment, Regions’ Customer Assistance Program lists 1-800-221-7471 for hardship support.
