Overview

Subaru reviews and complaints can help other drivers understand a vehicle, retailer, warranty, repair, financing, roadside-assistance or connected-service experience. Share what happened, which Subaru model or service you used and whether the issue was resolved. Positive, neutral and negative experiences are welcome on ZeroStars’ −5 to +5 rating scale.

Subaru sells cars, crossovers, SUVs and electric vehicles in the United States and supports owners through authorized Subaru retailers, Subaru Customer Advocacy, Subaru Roadside Assistance, MySubaru, connected services and Subaru Motors Finance. The editorial information below summarizes selected official support, warranty, recall and ownership information; it is separate from customer reviews and does not represent a survey of Subaru owners.

What to Include in Your Subaru Review

A useful Subaru review gives enough detail for another consumer to understand the experience without exposing personal information:

  • Vehicle: model, model year, trim or powertrain and approximate mileage.
  • Retailer or service location: retailer name and city or state.
  • What happened: sales issue, repair concern, warranty decision, recall, financing problem, roadside event or connected-service issue.
  • Timeline: approximate dates, number of visits and how long the vehicle was unavailable.
  • Resolution: what the retailer, Subaru or Subaru Motors Finance offered and whether the issue was corrected.

Choose the rating that reflects your own experience. A rating of 0 is valid. Do not post your full VIN, finance account number, MySubaru credentials, license plate, home address, phone number or unredacted service documents.

Warranty and Repair Concerns

Subaru’s current vehicle information lists a 3-year/36,000-mile New Car Limited Warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty, subject to the applicable warranty booklet, exclusions and whichever limit comes first. Subaru also lists a 5-year/unlimited-mile Rust Perforation Limited Warranty.

For eligible battery-electric Subaru models, current Subaru materials list an 8-year/100,000-mile electrification warranty covering specified battery and electric-drive components, subject to the applicable warranty terms.

If you dispute a warranty decision, ask the retailer to identify the warranty provision being applied and request a written repair order showing the complaint, diagnosis, parts replaced and final disposition. Keep every repair order, including visits where no repair was completed.

Recalls and Safety Campaigns

Subaru provides a VIN-based Vehicle Recalls tool for open safety recalls. Subaru also lists 1-844-373-6614 for recall-related questions.

If your review involves a recall or campaign, include the recall number if you know it, when you contacted the retailer, whether parts or software were available, how long the repair took and whether the remedy was completed. Avoid posting your full VIN publicly.

Roadside Assistance

Subaru lists 1-800-261-2155 for Roadside Assistance and says service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year during the 3-year/36,000-mile Subaru Limited Warranty, whichever comes first.

Roadside services can include towing to the nearest authorized Subaru retailer, battery jump-starts, gasoline delivery, flat-tire changes, emergency lockout service and minor fluid replacement, subject to program terms and exclusions.

If your complaint involves roadside assistance, document the request time, location, estimated arrival time, towing destination and any charge you were asked to approve.

Subaru Motors Finance: Payments, Loans and Leases

Subaru Motors Finance is offered through JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. Subaru’s current support information lists 1-800-662-3325 for questions about finance agreements and 1-800-644-1941 for lease questions or purchasing a leased Subaru.

If your complaint involves a payment, payoff or lease, keep the payment confirmation, date, amount and any written account status or payoff quote. Distinguish between the Subaru retailer and Subaru Motors Finance when describing who handled each part of the issue.

Retailer Sales and Service Issues

A Subaru purchase, trade-in, repair or warranty experience may involve both an independently operated retailer and Subaru of America. Subaru recommends contacting an authorized Subaru retailer first for vehicle concerns.

For a sales concern, keep the buyer’s order, advertised offer, financing or lease documents and any written promises. For repairs, keep each repair order and note whether the same symptom returned. If you escalate a concern to Subaru Customer Advocacy, save the case or reference number and record the outcome.

MySubaru and Connected Services

MySubaru provides access to vehicle information, service resources and supported connected features. Subaru lists 1-855-753-2495 for MySubaru Connected Services support.

Subaru is also introducing SubaruConnect on supported vehicles and lists 1-866-384-3574 for SubaruConnect Customer Care. Available features depend on the vehicle, model year, hardware, cellular coverage, account status and active service plan.

If your complaint involves a connected feature, record the vehicle, app or software version when possible, the date the issue began and whether the feature worked through another device or account.

Electric Vehicle Warranty and Charging

For eligible Subaru battery-electric vehicles, current Subaru materials list 8 years or 100,000 miles of electrification coverage for specified battery and electric-drive components, subject to the applicable limited warranty.

For an EV charging complaint, note whether the issue occurred at home or at a public charger, the charger type, any error message, the approximate battery state of charge and whether the vehicle charged normally elsewhere. That detail can help readers understand whether the issue appeared specific to the vehicle, charger or location.

Service Scheduling and Maintenance Records

Subaru Owner Support and MySubaru provide access to vehicle resources, recall information, manuals and service tools. Retailer appointment availability, diagnosis and repair timing can vary by location.

When reviewing a maintenance or repair experience, include the service requested, the retailer’s diagnosis, the estimate, whether additional work was recommended and whether the final invoice matched what you authorized.
