Overview

BMW reviews and complaints can help other drivers understand a vehicle, dealership, warranty, repair, financing, roadside-assistance or connected-service experience. Share what happened, which BMW model or service you used and whether the issue was resolved. Positive, neutral and negative experiences are welcome on ZeroStars’ −5 to +5 rating scale.

BMW sells luxury cars, SUVs, performance models and electric vehicles in the United States and supports owners through authorized BMW Centers, BMW Customer Relations, BMW Roadside Assistance, BMW ConnectedDrive, the My BMW App and BMW Financial Services. The editorial information below summarizes selected official support, warranty, recall and ownership information; it is separate from customer reviews and does not represent a survey of BMW owners.

What to Include in Your BMW Review

A useful BMW review gives enough detail for another consumer to understand the experience without exposing personal information:

  • Vehicle: model, model year, trim, engine or electric powertrain and approximate mileage.
  • BMW Center or service location: dealer name and city or state.
  • What happened: sales issue, repair concern, warranty decision, recall, financing problem, roadside event or ConnectedDrive issue.
  • Timeline: approximate dates, number of visits and how long the vehicle was unavailable.
  • Resolution: what the BMW Center, BMW Customer Relations or BMW Financial Services offered and whether the issue was corrected.

Choose the rating that reflects your own experience. A rating of 0 is valid. Do not post your full VIN, BMW Financial Services account number, ConnectedDrive credentials, license plate, home address, phone number or unredacted service documents.

Warranty and Repair Concerns

BMW’s current U.S. warranty information lists a 4-year/50,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty, whichever comes first. Coverage is subject to the applicable warranty booklet, exclusions and vehicle-specific terms.

BMW also includes separate coverage for certain emissions components and high-voltage battery systems. For eligible BMW battery-electric and plug-in hybrid models, BMW currently warrants the high-voltage battery assembly against defects in materials or workmanship for 8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.

If you dispute a warranty decision, ask the BMW Center to identify the warranty provision being applied and request a written repair order showing the complaint, diagnosis, parts replaced and final disposition. Keep every repair order, including visits where no repair was completed.

Recalls and Safety Campaigns

BMW provides a VIN-based recall lookup through its official recall page and says recall repairs are performed free of charge at an authorized BMW Center. Owners can also review recalls and campaigns in the My BMW App.

If your review involves a recall or campaign, include the recall number if you know it, when you contacted the BMW Center, whether parts or software were available, how long the repair took and whether the remedy was completed. Avoid posting your full VIN publicly.

Roadside Assistance

BMW lists 1-800-332-4269 for Roadside Assistance and says trained agents are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. BMW currently states that new BMW vehicles include Roadside Assistance for 4 years with unlimited miles from the original in-service date.

Roadside services can include battery jump-starts, delivery of driver-paid fuel or operating fluids, tire changes, lockout help and towing to the nearest authorized BMW Center for qualifying disablements, subject to program terms.

If your complaint involves roadside assistance, document the request time, location, estimated arrival time, towing destination and any charge you were asked to approve.

BMW Financial Services: Payments, Loans and Leases

BMW Financial Services handles financing and leasing for many BMW customers. Its current customer-service number is 1-800-578-5000. BMW Financial Services also provides secure account messaging and online account tools.

If your complaint involves a payment, payoff, lease or account issue, keep the payment confirmation, date, amount and any written account status or payoff quote. Distinguish between the BMW Center and BMW Financial Services when describing who handled each part of the issue.

BMW Center Sales and Service Issues

A BMW purchase, trade-in, repair or warranty experience may involve both an independently operated BMW Center and BMW of North America. In a review, distinguish between what the BMW Center said or did and what BMW Customer Relations said or did.

For a sales concern, keep the buyer’s order, advertised offer, financing or lease documents and any written promises. For repairs, keep each repair order and note whether the same symptom returned. If you escalate a concern to BMW Customer Relations, save the case or reference number and record the outcome.

ConnectedDrive and the My BMW App

BMW ConnectedDrive and the My BMW App can provide eligible remote functions, vehicle status, charging information, service features, navigation and other connected services. Available features depend on the vehicle, model year, hardware, cellular coverage, account status and active service plan.

BMW lists 1-888-333-6118 for BMW Assist and ConnectedDrive account-service questions. If your complaint involves connected services, record the vehicle, app or software version when possible, the date the issue began and whether the feature worked through another device or account.

BMW Ultimate Care and Scheduled Maintenance

BMW currently includes BMW Ultimate Care scheduled maintenance for the first 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first, on new BMW vehicles. Program eligibility and transferability can depend on model year and vehicle status.

If your review involves scheduled maintenance, identify which service was due, whether the BMW Center said it was covered and whether any additional work was recommended or charged separately.

Electric BMW Battery Warranty and Charging

BMW currently provides an 8-year/100,000-mile high-voltage battery limited defect warranty for eligible all-electric vehicles. For 2026 model-year BMW battery-electric vehicles, BMW also provides separate capacity-loss coverage below the stated threshold under the applicable warranty terms.

For a charging complaint, note whether the issue occurred at home or at a public charger, the charger type, any error message, the approximate battery state of charge and whether the vehicle charged normally elsewhere. That detail can help readers understand whether the issue appeared specific to the vehicle, charger or location.
