Overview

Volkswagen reviews and complaints can help other drivers understand a vehicle, dealership, warranty, repair, financing, roadside-assistance or connected-service experience. Share what happened, which Volkswagen model or service you used and whether the issue was resolved. Positive, neutral and negative experiences are welcome on ZeroStars’ −5 to +5 rating scale.

Volkswagen sells cars, SUVs and electric vehicles in the United States and supports owners through authorized Volkswagen dealers, Volkswagen Customer CARE, 24-Hour Roadside Assistance, the myVW app and connected vehicle services. Financing and leasing support depends on the account: leases and certain older finance accounts are handled by Volkswagen Financial Services, while new retail auto financing begun on or after May 1, 2025 is Volkswagen Retail Finance powered by Wells Fargo. The editorial information below summarizes selected official support, warranty, recall and ownership information; it is separate from customer reviews and does not represent a survey of Volkswagen owners.

What to Include in Your Volkswagen Review

A useful Volkswagen review gives enough detail for another consumer to understand the experience without exposing personal information:

  • Vehicle: model, model year, trim or powertrain and approximate mileage.
  • Dealer or service location: dealership name and city or state.
  • What happened: sales issue, repair concern, warranty decision, recall, financing problem, roadside event or connected-service issue.
  • Timeline: approximate dates, number of visits and how long the vehicle was unavailable.
  • Resolution: what the dealer, Volkswagen Customer CARE or account servicer offered and whether the issue was corrected.

Choose the rating that reflects your own experience. A rating of 0 is valid. Do not post your full VIN, finance account number, myVW credentials, license plate, home address, phone number or unredacted service documents.

Warranty and Repair Concerns

Volkswagen’s current U.S. ownership materials list a 4-year/50,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty, whichever occurs first, subject to the applicable warranty booklet, exclusions and vehicle-specific terms.

For eligible Volkswagen electric vehicles, current Volkswagen materials list an 8-year/100,000-mile High-Voltage Battery Limited Warranty, whichever occurs first. Volkswagen also publishes model-specific warranty and maintenance booklets that should be checked for exact coverage.

If you dispute a warranty decision, ask the dealer to identify the warranty provision being applied and request a written repair order showing the complaint, diagnosis, parts replaced and final disposition. Keep every repair order, including visits where no repair was completed.

Recalls and Service Campaigns

Volkswagen provides a VIN-based recall and service campaign lookup. Volkswagen advises owners to contact Customer CARE or an authorized dealer if an open recall or service action applies.

If your review involves a recall or campaign, include the recall or campaign number if you know it, when you contacted the dealer, whether parts or software were available, how long the repair took and whether the remedy was completed. Avoid posting your full VIN publicly.

Roadside Assistance

Volkswagen lists 1-800-411-6688 for 24-Hour Roadside Assistance. Volkswagen’s current Carefree Coverage materials list Roadside Assistance for 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, on new Volkswagen vehicles, subject to applicable program terms.

Roadside services can include towing, collision towing, flat-tire service, lockout assistance, fuel delivery, battery jump-starts, EV out-of-charge assistance and trip-interruption benefits, subject to program rules.

If your complaint involves roadside assistance, document the request time, location, estimated arrival time, towing destination and any charge you were asked to approve.

Volkswagen Financial Services and Retail Finance

Volkswagen’s current financing structure depends on when the account began. Customers leasing a Volkswagen, and customers who began financing before May 1, 2025, are generally Volkswagen Financial Services customers. Volkswagen lists 1-800-428-4034 for Volkswagen Financial Services support.

For auto financing begun on or after May 1, 2025, Volkswagen says the account is Volkswagen Retail Finance powered by Wells Fargo. Those retail finance accounts are owned and serviced by Wells Fargo and should be managed through the Wells Fargo account tools and contact information associated with the account.

If your complaint involves a payment, payoff or lease, keep the payment confirmation, date, amount and any written account status or payoff quote. Distinguish between the Volkswagen dealer, Volkswagen Financial Services and Wells Fargo when describing who handled each part of the issue.

Dealer Sales and Service Issues

A Volkswagen purchase, trade-in, repair or warranty experience may involve both an independently operated dealership and Volkswagen of America. In a review, distinguish between what the dealer said or did and what Volkswagen Customer CARE said or did.

For a sales concern, keep the buyer’s order, advertised offer, financing or lease documents and any written promises. For repairs, keep each repair order and note whether the same symptom returned. If you escalate a concern to Volkswagen Customer CARE, save the case or reference number and record the outcome.

myVW and Connected Vehicle Services

The myVW app and Volkswagen connected services can provide eligible remote functions, vehicle status, roadside access, service features and other connected tools depending on the vehicle, model year, hardware, cellular coverage, account status and active service plan.

Volkswagen lists 1-833-648-2735 for myVW and connected vehicle support, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If your complaint involves connected services, record the vehicle, app or software version when possible, the date the issue began and whether the feature worked through another device or account.

Carefree Maintenance

Volkswagen’s current Carefree Coverage package includes 2 years of Carefree Maintenance on new Volkswagen vehicles, covering the first two scheduled maintenance services. Volkswagen currently recommends scheduled maintenance every 10,000 miles or 12 months, whichever occurs first, subject to the model’s maintenance schedule.

If your review involves scheduled maintenance, identify which service was due, whether the dealer said it was covered and whether any additional work was recommended or charged separately.

Electric Vehicle Battery and Charging

Volkswagen currently lists an 8-year/100,000-mile High-Voltage Battery Limited Warranty for eligible electric vehicles, whichever occurs first. Current Volkswagen materials also describe battery-capacity protection to the applicable threshold under the warranty terms.

Volkswagen lists 1-833-632-2778 for Electrify America support. For a charging complaint, note whether the issue occurred at home or at a public charger, the charger type, any error message, the approximate battery state of charge and whether the vehicle charged normally elsewhere.
